Jack Reiss would have let Rocky continue.
You silly boy. Unable to see the factors surrounding that choice of opponent. What an easy world you live in when everything is black or white.Enlightened-One wrote: ↑16 Dec 2018, 01:05Even though Rocky Fielding was overmatched and hand-picked by GBP to lose... and lose spectacularly, the Brit was a much better opponent than Vanes Martirosyan.
For some reason that beast needed help from judges twice in his two previous fights, and then he destroyed a mediocre paper title holder and now we are supposed to fall in love with him?oogiebe wrote: ↑16 Dec 2018, 01:06I know I love boxing and I know I don't love Canelo, so something is amiss.SenorPipino wrote: ↑16 Dec 2018, 01:05 Canelo Alvarez has been molded into a beast.
The best fighting machine on the planet.
If you don't love Canelo and what he brings to the game, then you don't love boxing.
not sure after 4 downs in 3 rounds and 2 of them one after the other
I don't even agree with the statement itself. From what we saw, Rocky is no better than Vanes. His best career achievement is the split decision over John F*cking Ryder.lazboy wrote: ↑16 Dec 2018, 01:09You silly boy. Unable to see the factors surrounding that choice of opponent. Don't you think it's time to grow up and embrace the Canelo Era??
You're really out of step with what's happening today.

Judges've been known to give the lad a boost here and then, is the joke I was making.
Is someone seriously saying Rocky is better than Vanes!? Ridiculous statement. Vanes could've easily had a win over Charlo when they fought. It was a razor close fight and Vanes got the shaft for allowing it to be a 10 rounder for a belt. He also gave Andrade and Lara tough fights. His draw to Lara is better than anything Rocky has ever done.boxing_rocks wrote: ↑16 Dec 2018, 01:14I don't even agree with the statement itself. From what we saw, Rocky is no better than Vanes. Just have to find room to add it to the list of 'enlightened' comments.Mexi-Box wrote: ↑16 Dec 2018, 01:22Is someone seriously saying Rocky is better than Vanes!? Ridiculous statement. You guys sound so foolish and butt hurt by constantly trying to discredit Canelo Alvarez' skills.boxing_rocks wrote: ↑16 Dec 2018, 01:10For some reason that beast needed help from judges twice in his two previous fights, and then he destroyed a mediocre paper title holder and now we are supposed to fall in love with him?oogiebe wrote: ↑16 Dec 2018, 01:06I know I love boxing and I know I don't love Canelo, so something is amiss.SenorPipino wrote: ↑16 Dec 2018, 01:05 Canelo Alvarez has been molded into a beast.

There are just some things anyone sane wouldn't argue. You don't compare a world-level fighter at 154 to a domestic level 168'er. Fielding is European level at his best. Vanes was world level in his prime at 154.lazboy wrote: ↑16 Dec 2018, 01:25Just have to find room to add it to the list of 'enlightened' comments.Mexi-Box wrote: ↑16 Dec 2018, 01:22Is someone seriously saying Rocky is better than Vanes!? Mexi-Box wrote: ↑16 Dec 2018, 01:16 Man, Fielding had an awful gameplan, if he had any. I think I said it here or on another forum, but his in-fighting is garbage from what I've seen. He slaps with his punches too much and is a frail, weak guy. He chose to stand on the inside and trade with an expert, stronger man. Completely ridiculous.
Why don’t we have a discussion relating to the comparison between the resumes of Fielding and Martirosyan based on their accomplishments during the 3½ years prior to their respective bouts against Canelo and GGG?lazboy wrote: ↑16 Dec 2018, 01:09You silly boy. Golovkin's team only had like 2-3 weeks to find an opponent before the fight date because of Canelo's drug test fail. GB had all the time in the world since September to find Canelo a decent opponent. Nobody denied that Martirosyan was opponent (including GGG team), but they still wanted to fight someone to not waste a long training camp and give ppl a show.Enlightened-One wrote: ↑16 Dec 2018, 01:05Even though Rocky Fielding was overmatched and hand-picked by GBP to lose... and lose spectacularly, the Brit was a much better opponent than Vanes Martirosyan.

Still, fighting 3 months after back to back Golovkin fights is impressive not to mention becoming the highest paid athlete in all sports. Yet Rocky was smiling when the ref waved it off.
Maybe Rocky froze in the spotlight, but good news is Canelo has an open date in May at MGM with no shortage of willing opponents.
