From that first round of froch vs groves, groves made froch look vunerable and look as if groves could knock him out at any second up until this point froch looked like he couldnt even be hurt let alone dropped(i know taylor dropped him) and buzzed everytime a right hand landed. So in defence of the gingerbread man he helped sell 80'000 tickets at wembley and brought the huge following of boxing this country has now cause up until that point a stadium teg size if wembley could never be sold out between any two fighters but because of george and that first round ut had boxing buzzin in britain, well done george, take a bow and leave the stage mate you have done yourself proud

He should be thanking George for one of the biggest fights in British boxing.

I think if Groves was with Adam Booth, he would have beaten Froch both times.

He would have beaten Froch if he'd used negative backfoot counter punching tactics like he did vs Degale.

But look at how that Degale fight is remembered vs how the Froch fights are remembered. People don't want to see a guy running. I was delighted to see Donaire beat Burnett recently. Booth turns fighters into boring bastards. Groves did British boxing a massive favour and played a huge part in putting 80000 people into Wembley. In years to come there will be new boxers coming up and they'll be interviewed and asked about what got them into boxing. None of them will mention the Burnett Haskins fight. Or the Groves Degale fight. Or the Haye Wlad fight. They will mention the Froch Groves fights. That rivalry gave British boxing a serious jolt in the arm and when AJ came along he benefitted from Wembley already being sold out and a buzz around British boxing. Not to mention he had the experience of fighting on that Groves Froch undercard.

Bit late to this one but I'm really chuffed that George seems happy to bow out gracefully at this time. I think it's perfect timing.

I think he's had a great career and was always a good fighter to watch. Lots of power but vulnerable too. Was chuffed to bits when he won the title at the 4th attempt.

Has always struck me as being a decent chap and best of luck to him in whatever he does next. It's been a pleasure watching.

As for Froch, well is anyone really surprised? Vain, insecure, thin skinned and classless. As always.

Wouldve been good if he retired just before the degale eubank fight to take away from both those clowns. Good luck george in your retirement

Regardless of whether Booth would have helped him get the win, the timing of the split was bad. It didn't do George any favours.
