Buster Douglas lost his mum prior to the best win of his life,Tommy Hearns also lost his brother the night before one of his best performances, fighters get on with it,injuries too
Bereavement has often brought about big performances.

A broken right hand and no sparring at all for your biggest fight to date? Less so.

Clearly the narrative of this thread is not one for adult discussion. It’s just a pile-on and half-truths.

I’ll leave you to it.

kessler was such a gent that he didn't mention his broken hand prior to the Calzaghe loss,Froch however couldn't help but mention the Volcano dust cloud and blamed that on his loss. The thread title asks why is Froch bitter ?,well it would appear that he can't just accept he was beaten by the better man.

I do wish he’d follow boxing a bit more closely though, considering he’s working so often for Sky as an analyst. You’d think basic knowledge of the current scene would be a prerequisite.
I had to laugh when he said somebody would win a fight purely because he'd never heard of the other guy

That's right Sky subscribers your fees are paying that mans wages!

That just shows the arrogance of the man,i bet the second someone at Sky is brave enough to pull him up on it then he'll be off like a shot.

The fight was supposed to be on one date in Copenhagen. Right near the time they shifted it to Herning - and put it back one week. All travelling fans with flights & hotels got deliberately f*cked over.

Then the week of the fight it was off as all airlines were grounded. Until literally a few days to go they hired a small plane to fly at low altitude to get him there.

Carl had to quickly shed a few pounds and get to the airport the next day. The promoter wasn’t stupid, upon landing they sprung it that tv crews would film him doing laps around some track, then off to do interviews here, interviews there. Rob wasn’t happy.

Sauerland thanked everyone for seeing it through. Stating Abraham would be coming to Nottingham on the next leg without a doubt in return (they didn’t)

After a great fight in the lion’s den, Kessler shaded it in a must-win fight to save his career. He took some heavy blows and had to retire from the tournament.

A lot of press scored it Froch, I think showtime , Bunce etc did. Carl said he wasn’t 100% sure he had at the bell. He gave Kessler his credit in post fight interviews.

Obviously now ‘he just blamed the ash cloud’. yawn.

I'm going to throw this out that I don't think Kessler is anywhere near as good as people make him out to be, injuries or not.

That's the only thing he blamed for the Kessler loss from what i can remember, anyway going back to the thread title, yes i believe he is very bitter and almost every time he opens his mouth he proves it,very good fighter though.

Tough but classless is froch....and clearly a professional excuse maker & full of s**t....love watching him as a fighter, but it's clear to see he lacks a lot mentally, can't bare others being complimented round him & seems to struggle to just simply be real & a stand up guy...

So Kessler gets a pat on the back for fighting and losing with major distractions, but froch gets criticism. Seems there's different rules when judging Carl's (outstanding) career cos he's a bit of a dick. It's not like he didn't push Kessler that night either.

Carl, love him or loath him, was fantastic. Great to watch and fought a murderers row. To bitch about the man cos you find him unpleasant is one thing, but his achievements speak for themselves.

You can insert most great fighters for froch. It's the mentality.

I used to like him, thought he was always a bit tongue in cheek and enjoyed a little wind up.

He took himself far too seriously towards the end of his career though. Groves done him up like a kipper in the build up to their first one.

He did and i think that's what bothers him most,Groves wasn't fit to challenge Froch apparently ( Froch's words ) and yet he gave Carl fits.that's what hurts i'd imagine.

Groves banged Froch out as well. Froch was out cold when he hit the floor in the first round against Groves but, fair play, he did a Fury and somehow got up, recovered, toughed it out.

Jones spent more time at light heavy during that period if my memory is working
Prime Jones would of gave anyone in history a run for their money, prime Jones was one brilliant boxer and entertainer one of my all time favs super middle weight Jones.

He gave Degale a bit of praise wished him well but then finished his comment off by saying he didn't fight the best of the best and that if he'd met him in the ring he'd have smashed him.

Now I don't disagree with him on that prediction but as always he has to have a sly dig.
Who was the best of his era? Dirrel,Bute,Jack? Am i missing anyone? Cant count ward cause he moved up to light heavyweight and from what i remember froch fought ward once and got took to school at his own game.

Froch had a brilliant career entertained us all and beat every man he faced bar 1 so be humble and respectful.

Degale only said what Calzaghe said about Collins, what Froch said about Calzaghe,it is what it is,the next gen has to say this to hype his own career up plus obviously they would of liked to fight them to win the title instead of a vacant title fight.
Kessler.
Beat every man he ever fought bar ward,he beat kessler in the rematch so add kessler to the beat list
