Why didn't they just stop that garbage fight? That was as one sided as it gets, how many shots did Mikey actually land? It wasn't competetive for 1 second and 1 guy took a needless beating for no reason. Wasn't worth staying up for.

Marquez got a beatdown from Floyd and was perfectly fine after that.
Marquez has had harder pillow fights. Spence hurt Mikey plenty, every round was the same, ripped his body to bits and clubbed behind the guard. The punch numbers will be as 1-sided as any title fight in recent history. It was a boring predictable mismatch that had no intrugue after r3. they should've just waved it off in the later rounds.

Mikey took a lot of punishment. On paper, Spence should have stopped a lightweight. But, it's not like he wasn't able to land the same shots on Mikey that stop other fighters. Spence went for it on a number of occasions. Some corners would have waved it off had their fighter been taking the same amount of punishment as Mikey and weren't going down.

Looked like Spence wanted to prove a point that he had the skills edge as well as size. He did.

According to CompuBox, Spence landed 345 of 1082 (32%) total punches and Garcia was only 75 of 406 (19%). He also connected 51% of his power punches (237 of 464). Garcia only landed 54 of 218 (25%).

It's just silly, a 150 pound adult men challenging a currently overweight 125 pound fighter and then people are acting like they are amazed that the 150 fighter wins.
A 4 inch reach advantage, a 4 feet length advantage, in the prime of his life and then be proud of this?
Anyone that knows the details should feel ashamed that this fight took place at all. I think the dwarf still did a reasoneble job. Please let the other guy fight someone his own size.
Coming up 2 weight classes isn't unheard of and not a massive leap for some - and many a time smaller fighters have won - a few on here were backing Garcia via points. With Garcia's association with Conte I was expecting a 'pumped up' Mikey to come to the ring with a lot of extra muscle.
Unfortunately for Mikey the weight was superficial and actually slowed him down even more, from seeing him in the ring from the first bell i where this was going. He carried a lot of extra weight around the midsection which allowed spence to utilise his reach advantage and picked him off at will, as soon as he started landing power shots to the body the writing was on the wall and it took extreme guts from Garcia to stay in there. Those backing Garcia thought he could nick a points win based on boxing skill but once in the ring Spence showed that he had the edge in not only skill but speed.
In retrospect it comes back to a great big man beats a great small man. 2 things we learnt are that Mikeys chin and body are made of steel and that Spence has improved massively since the Brook fight.
Unfortunately it looked like a massive career shortener for Garcia and I hope there's gas left in the tank for him at his natural weight. It's all well and good saying that Spence was destined to win but he had to show a boxing brain and threw a lot more straight shots especially in the early going, was quicker than Garcia to the jab and took his only strengths going into the fight away. He then proceeded to beat him to the body and punish him - a clinical performance

Spence should move onto Josh Warrington next. Clean out all those divisions. There are really no fights for him at 147.

He was badly marked, had his nose damaged and body hurting. Most importantly, Spence had advantage in every aspect of boxing, so Garcia had no chance to win.
Normally, a smaller skilled fighter has an advantage in speed, movement, punch variety, some other skills. Mikey had none of that. Spence was better all over. Pointless beating.

Not much difference in movement between top lightweights all the way to middleweights. We've seen this for decades. We see it now. Garcia and Spence are of equal skills, just one is MUCH bigger. That's why there's weight classes. No debate here.
By the way, Mikey does not look "badly hurt" here. We've seen many-a-winner look no worse for wear.

Mikey was simply over-matched with the size differential. There is no measurable skill difference between the two.

Mikey asked for the fight. Spence accepted. They attracted a huge gate and I sense that the ppv #s will be relatively good.
Mikey just did not come to win. He came to survive. He accomplished that.
