YEah, those are some piercing steel blue eyes...scary!

I fully expect Usyk to win.... It's a stepping stone.... Takam is 3-3 in his last six & is 38 years old, and an inch shorter than the ex-cruiserweight champion... Basically he's facing an old small heavyweight.

I was hoping for something substantial like a "rematch" with Michael Hunter or somebody of size to at least make it interesting.

Me too. But, Takam is a safe step into the division. Had Usyk's camp not made a big deal of him jumping right in to fight top five guys, I would have been fine with this fight from the beginning.

If Usyk is the beast that we keep getting told that he is. He needs to fight a legitimate top 10 or even better top 5 heavyweight

I think he will get around to that by the end if the year. It's all good.

Yeah but... "It's never satisfying when you know who the winner is going to be," as James Woods character Gabriel Cane in the movie DIGGSTOWN said.

If Usyk is as great as he's made out to be, then by all means have him face some giant or ex-champion off the bat. Even Tomasz Adamek fought men much larger than himself when he went to the heavyweight division.

All fights take something out of you. So do you really want to grind it out against Takam (#30 on BoxRec) when you really could make serious waves if you fought someone like Robert Helenius (#20 on BoxRec) whose 6'7" 245+ and capable of being beaten?

In my mind something like that would be who I'd of gunned for in a debut. Unfortunately I know this is a political move more than anything else--- Takam, despite all these misgivings someway somehow is ranked #11 by the WBC and yet not rated anywhere else in the top 15 of the WBA, IBF, WBO.

takam is better then helenius, though of course hes not a shw

its usyks first fight in his hw campaign, not very interesting but ill wait for another fight before i start moaning about it. he of all ppl shouldnt be knocked for taking easy touches

It's the size factor that matters to me. Sure Takam may be better than Helenius, but, it's a whole other kettle of fish fighting a decent heavyweight of giant proportions than fighting a good heavyweight of small proportion.

A good large man can make a great little man look like crap--- and it's the struggle I'm looking for. I don't want Usyk having some easy road to the title like David Haye and others did.

I think Usyk has already established the fact he can beat a 2 metre heavyweight who lacks speed and mobility, at least over 5 rounds (Joyce), and I don't think an easy win over Helenius gives us any greater insight into how he'd fare against the big three than an easy win over Takam - who I believe has declined from the Takam who so troubled AJ - but there again he has to start somewhere and Oogie is right - we'd have had no problem with a Takam debut were it not for all the big talk of going staight after the big boys.

Good fight to this for usyk . Taken is a very capable top 10 heavyweight for me . dangerous fight I reckon usyk can stop him .but we ain't seen usyk at heavyweight so see if he carrys his speed movement up

I think takam gave aj problems. And was beating chisora till he got stopped. He is solid heavyweight is what I getting at . he no champion in the making. But a good test for his first fight

Meh...I don't think fighting Takam will tell us much. Obviously Usyk's camp wanted a relatively easy transition fight.

But apart from Tyson v wilder. All the top 10 are avoiding each other. So it ain't a shock. But at least takam has gone rds with fighters.

The big men are bigger, stronger, more athletic than they've ever been. 6'3" & 210 pounds is considered dwarfish these days at heavyweight. True, size isn't everything--- but when you reach the top and the big men are not just big but fast, well conditioned, skilled fighters it's a whole other kettle of fish.

I firmly believe he wanted too. Dazn is losing money hand over fist and they have guaranteed money for the a sides. Expect more showcases.

I agree size isn't everything. But it is an obstacle. I need to see Usyk in with a true top super heavyweight to make an educated guess on his future in the division
