I wasn’t being silly, since I already said this in my original post, but I didn’t include the reference ID of the rule itself.

Also, Boxing Scene has just reported the following:

WBC heavyweight world champion Deontay Wilder is now in hot water with the World Boxing Council, after the boxer made numerous statements regarding his desire to kill opponent Dominic Breazeale in the ring.

WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman said the comments were "regrettable" and against the organisation's ethics.

Sulaiman said: "I have seen Deontay Wilder comments which are regrettable and completely against the spirit of our sport. I have known Wilder for a long time and he is not the person he portrays in such comments. His metaphors are against the WBC code of ethics and will be addressed in a hearing."

Its the entertainment era. The quote has been all over my time line for days. It shows what gets people to engage. Saying "Im in the best shape of my life and I will retain my belt" just doesnt cut it anymore. If you want to make millions you find what people want and you provide it.

I get that, but there surely has to be limits?

Fighters actually die or suffer life changing injuries due to competing in this sport.

To exploit those tragedies for self-promotion purposes, as well as providing adequate justification for those that want the sport banned for health and safety reasons, is surely irresponsible and cannot go unpunished?

Boxing isn’t scripted like the WWE.

True its a dangerous gamble because it can actually happen. That would be super difficult to deal with for a person like Wilder whos shown to be a fairly reasonable human being.

BUT we live in a sick world. Who is really to blame? We are the ones who make all those ugly things become so popular. A regular competitive match up where just "finding out who is the best" only gets some people to watch while drama and WWE antics make the rest of the world watch. Again I agree hes playing a dangerous game here but hes set himself the goal to bring attention back to the heavyweight division. Hes doing what it takes to do it on 2019 and it might actually be our fault.

That's exactly the right distinction to make. Where everyone knows that the trash talk is real but the combat itself is scripted, say anything you want. But where fighters actually risk their lives, it takes an utter bellend to take things there.

I thought you were more intelligent than that. He didn't "whack a puppet", he wound up and hit a small person, male or female, in a costume as hard as he could. He sucker punched that person because that person didn't even have the opportunity to raise his or her arms into a defensive position. Wilder is the hardest puncher in boxing and he sucker punched the small actor in the costume as hard as he could. The person went down. The show went off the air. And as far as i know the actor has never been seen again.

And no, a costume is not some kind of cushioned outfit designed to protect against blows. It is just cloth and paper mache or something and the actor's face is right up against the cloth so that he or she can breathe and see.

This is a laugh riot to a lot of them on here - and a lot of them on here aren't even worth talking to.

Boxing - tho it was once my sport - is ugly and I'm afraid it is becoming much more ugly. At least there used to be a show of good sportsmanship, and there still is, but not much in the USA.

Always struck me odd that a Mexican org would set up povetkin to cost themselves by far the largest sanctioning fee wilder would have. If anything, at the time, the way ryabinsky was spending I'm sure Jose wanted povetkin to win.

Sportsmanship or lack thereof is down to the individual. Not their nationality.

Deontay has been saying this for years.

I’m a white American. I take his comments for what they are. Fight promotion. Getting people talking. I am not bothered by them. I’m going to guess a lot of the people that have a problem with this are racist Eastern Europeans.

Wilder was brought along extremely slowly, for good and obvious reasons, which he will never live down unless he unifies by KTFO Fury and AJ. Even then, his haters gonna hate.

Joshua is more well spoken than Wilder. He’s also lighter skinned and not American. He’s not going to
catch as much hate especially when he’s fought a less protected lineup of opposition as a whole. Before Ortiz and Fury Wilder had fought absolutely nobody.
