So they still gotta iron out the money and locale details? That's gonna be interesting because I'm sure Ruiz was given a low ball offer for a Heavyweight title fight on short notice, and now he holds all the cards. He's definitely gonna be using this to squeeze something out of the situation either the location he wants or a sh*t load of money if they insist on the U.K.

Either way he comes out smelling like a rose.

Especially if he wins the rematch, but honestly even if he doesn't. He stands to make more off of this rematch than he ever would've made in his whole Boxing career combined without pulling this upset. It's the stuff dreams are made of.
Can only tip your hat to him, he's played an absolute blinder.

Absolutely. People forget that there is a mahoosive step down in paycheque size below the level of the handful of mega-earners in this sport. Much like everything else, inequality is as bad as ever in boxing.

Mike Tyson had a huge team of hangers on who he often bought expensive gifts for, when the money dried up,so the hangers on cleared off and left him broke.

Is that how rematch clauses normally work?

Because that seems an incredible thing to agree to, to me.

It doesn't look very good on Joshua if Hearn pays up to get the fight in the UK.

It'll look like Joshua got his butt kicked and then had to run back to the UK because he can't fight abroad. A world champion should be just that. A champion who fights in a range of different countries.

If this fight does happen in the UK and Joshua wins. I can't ever see him fighting outside of the UK again.

I did say earlier on in this thread that I bet they would of dropped the ball as they never ever expecting Ruiz to win, I’ve seen these contracts so many times and when the odds as they think are against the opponent they just put a rematch clause in but it’s all quite loose, most the time they never put things like rematch location/venue, money & splits etc so like I said it leaves Ruiz in big control, all hangers on and great advisers all jump in bandwagon and get on board, everyone suddenly become top business men lol but they 8/10 get it wrong and drop the ball and get complacent

Who is dafter? AJ for wasting his money or the overwhelming majority of those in the photo living their life as lickspittle scroungers? If that's what they are doing.

In all interviews Hearn has been talking about how AJ is being advised to take the fight in the UK because getting the win and titles back are of primary importance and he has such advantages at home. Ok, I know Ruiz beat him the first time, but is Hearn basically saying that in a straight fight he does not AJ comes out on top and they need to tip the cards heavily in their favour? Suggests it was not an aberration.

Yeah I suggested something similar on another thread.

The general verdict was that Hearn was far too business savvy not to have everything nailed down.

We're certainly getting conflicting views from both camps at the moment. I think Ruiz might have more flex here than people think. Time will tell I guess.

That may be true Billy, but I’d guess for a contract of this magnitude with hundreds of millions at stake ( bearing in mind heavyweight boxing can be a crap shoot, and they well knew AJ has a less than bullet proof chin & alarm bells rang loudly in past fights ) they would have nailed down the advantages they would want in a rematch - Hearn senior has been doing this a long long and rarely gives an INCH

Surrounded by that many yes men only makes me think he’ll get chinned again in his next outing, seen it again and again over the years. maybe it’s ego maybe he’s too nice and wants to give all his pals a living, either way they won’t be around once it’s over.

I think it's a tacit acknowledgement that Hearn would prefer a friendly (i.e. "Don't fight on the inside until Joshua is winning & wants to, & even then only for as long as Ant needs to get his shots off") ref.

I watched the fight again last night, there's no way some of the refs he's had in world title fights over here lets Ruiz get inside like that. Absolutely none.

Though it is fvcking barmy, when you think about it—bit too much of the Klitschko era about it, eh?

But Eddie isn’t Barry, Barry is a nice fella and nothing arrogant about him, he would always make sure you was well looked after you when you boxed for Matchroom, the tide changed a while ago, arrogance has taken over imo with Eddie and Joshua again just my opinion and I always thought when there was talk about a rematch clause that it was a loose one, they never ever thought in a million years despite all their bul lshit and fake humble spiel that they would lose or it would be even a tough fight, they thought Joshua size and power would just dominant Ruiz, so again like I thought and would of put money on it I guessed they would of dropped the ball and Ruiz will have a lot more say than anyone else with the exception of a very small few thought he would, I said I would want £20 million if Ruiz was with me for him to come to the uk and afterwards he did a interview saying he wants $50 million which is about £28 - £30 million at the current exchange rate which is about right, I guarantee they will have to pay big, bigger than they even expect, with Haymon aswell backing Ruiz signed rematch clause or not without all them fine details nailed on and signed it won’t mean sh it
