Nothing really for the established names to gain fighting him. Ioka basically said of himself, he’s just fought two big super flyweights (Palicte & Cintron), Ancajas is a lefty and this isn’t what he’s looking for in his next fight - he wants Estrada, and has been linked to face 3-weight champ Tanaka.
Think Ancajas was planning to face Rex Tso but he’s either quit or having a long layoff. That would’ve shown what each guy has. And his career has failed to gain momentum since.

Ancajas ducked all those good super fly shows in the states, or at least his team did. Wouldn't go on any of them.

It’s funny cos I think he’s not much worse than any one else at the weight on his day.
He could just turn it round now and fight the others and get the plaudits.

Definitely Ancajas doesn’t seem anything special. But as has been stated, maybe he gets unleashed against an older and smaller great and suddenly he’s the man. Boxing always wants to hype the next Filipino great and he’s supposed to be some kind of pretty boy, apparently.
Back to Roman, what a great story and great addition to boxing’s best weight.
In his prime he was the closest to a peak Duran I’ve seen. Not the same level of ferocity or artillery but I’m more talking about the way he launches himself forward, the skills he has on the offensive, the upper body movement and punch repertoire. So many comparisons to Arguello, his mentor, but in stance, movement and demeanour far closer to Duran. Obviously he’s not going to face the level of opposition of Duran and the comparison can only go so far.

Yes, it’s annoying.
At one point seemingly every Filipino who was a borderline contender used to make headlines over at boxing scene. For instance endless stories on Malcolm Tunacao, long after his title winning days and way over his natural weight class.

Thought bad fight kal.it was like he wanted to prove something. Bit like when people say Johnny Nelson was boring. Tried to have tear up and fight inside against the wrong man.maybe needs a change of trainer

I think it is a big difference. You must know when you work a 12 hour shifts then tried to work out after it's a drainer. Who was that Manchester lad who was doing well think he was a carpet fitter full time . Had bad lost think he weren't allowed to fight again
