Overall, the last decade has been great. I do think you get fewer good domestic fights now though. The British title seems to have declined in importance due to Machroom concentrating on the top end of the sport. I guess it's always give and take.Twinkle Toes wrote: ↑27 May 2020, 10:13 Exactly, people have soon forgotten how bad it was when Warren was running the show.
He made the Pinto fight. Not at fault there.Twinkle Toes wrote: ↑27 May 2020, 10:13 Exactly, people have soon forgotten how bad it was when Warren was running the show.
Not saying I disagree but changing it would make it a farce given anyone knocked down would just stay on their knee until the count of 7/8 anyway.Shhhh wrote: ↑27 May 2020, 15:17 Weighs ins should be same day science says only a couple of hours are needed for full rehydration. Weigh in at 10 am, 12pm loads of time left to fully rehydrate. 36 hours to rehydrate is unecesary and unfair. Some fighters are experts at the weight game and win fights they wudnt on a fair level.
Also standing eight counts are BS and should’nt happen. Even after the 8 count is completed the ref asks are you ok about 3 times and checks him out before letting the fight go on. So no need for the 8 count. Just check the man as soon as he gets up look in his eyes ask him if he’s ok then let it go on. The 8 count takes away the advantage of a knockdown. Especially with the neutral corner rule (Which I agree with). If you knock someone down it’s like 15 seconds before you get another crack. If a fighter needs 8 seconds take the knee.![]()

Surely a lot of fighters get up when they're clearly not ready though? Like Enzo v Frenkel. The extra few seconds gives the ref a chance to check if they are. It's a good way of hopefully avoiding the really bad KOs (although in that case the ref messed it up, so it's not foolproof)Shhhh wrote: ↑28 May 2020, 16:27Not necessarily. Peoples instinct are to jump up. If you're up your ready to fight. Look at videos before the compulsory count was introducedMarkMcBurney wrote: ↑28 May 2020, 16:22

Eg look at this from the Bruno thread. Also the ref doesn't stare at Neildon for five seconds asking him if hes all right. Much better this way

Now that would be a very unpopular opinion....LOL
I had Ward beating Kov in the first fight aswell.MarkMcBurney wrote: ↑28 May 2020, 16:21 Ward beat Kovalev in the first fight.
Bradley beat Pacquiao.
They seem to be very much against the grain.
Did you have Jacobs beating GGG too? I notice Ward +DJ was a popular pick, even though they fought very differentPredatorHayds wrote: ↑29 May 2020, 18:41I had Ward beating Kov in the first fight aswell.MarkMcBurney wrote: ↑28 May 2020, 16:21 Ward beat Kovalev in the first fight.

kell brook is wasted talent , and would of been a true boxing story as nothing was handed to him, a good kell could of beat spence , a top one would of cleaned up the division unfortunately looks like he was fond of a beer up as well as us all ,the shawn porter win has to be one of the best wins for a british fighter everhandsofstone wrote: ↑21 May 2020, 16:37 Hagler hasn't got a win against an ATG Middleweight
Conor Benn can pick up world title
Mayweather vs Castillo 1 wasnt a robbery
Joshua vs Klitschko was stopped too early
Usyk vs Briedis wasnt that great to watch
Kell Brook had the talent to become one of the greatest fighters Britains produced
Pascal is Froch's best win
I'll try think of more
Fury’s boxing brain is his best asset and would be up there in ANY era. Plus his use of size.
By do well I'm not saying win world titles or anything, I'm saying he would always be in the mix for European, british, commonwealth titles in any era especially the one we see today, a motivated chis would be a handful for most boxers, and he would find relative success imomickey1975 wrote: ↑30 May 2020, 08:40Fury’s boxing brain is his best asset and would be up there in ANY era. Chisora has 9 losses in THIS era, including a few inside the distance.

Agree on Loma, one of those guys who is very very good but still overrated. People seem to overlook how competitive several of his fights have been
He really should have cleaned out a division,I'm always weary of people win one belt and jump ship.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑30 May 2020, 15:06Agree on Loma, one of those guys who is very very good but still overrated. People seem to overlook how competitive several of his fights have been
She is a real intelligent boxer in that he uses what he has got to the maximum.Reddish Vale wrote: ↑30 May 2020, 13:22 Don't be obtuse, it was a simple question, do you think Fury would be as effective if he was more 'normally' proportioned ?
To be fair, he has shown he can use a lot of different tactics.Coco wrote: ↑30 May 2020, 15:15She is a real intelligent boxer in that he uses what he has got to the maximum.Reddish Vale wrote: ↑30 May 2020, 13:22 Don't be obtuse, it was a simple question, do you think Fury would be as effective if he was more 'normally' proportioned ?
If he was smaller he would need a proper change in tactics.
Bit of a pointless question though really. It's like saying if Loma was a foot taller would he be a good heavyweight....nobody knows.Reddish Vale wrote: ↑30 May 2020, 13:22 Don't be obtuse, it was a simple question, do you think Fury would be as effective if he was more 'normally' proportioned ?
