Joe Smith continues to impress and defy odds. Fair play to him, that's a good finish!

Forgot that Smith-Beterbiev was tried to be made a few years ago. Pure bone breaking matchup. Seems unlikely to happen at this point.

Is Joe a full-time boxer now, rather than boxing and working another job? That could obviously make a big difference if he was..

Do you guys see improvements in Joe Smith? Maybe his punches are less telegraphed i think. On the other hand, ive expected more from Alvarez

I believe this happened post Hopkins when he became a name.

He was still doing his construction work after the Hopkins fight.

He got $140,000 for that win.

If was a few fights after where he might have quit the construction work. The more names he fought etc. The better paydays.

What a warrior Smith is, glad for him. I wasn't thinking of such dominance at all, as I was picking Alvarez to outbox Smith. Yet Smith just beat Alvarez down, what a performance. Alvarez was able to do nothing and was only looking for the counters. He got some at the closing stages of the fight, Smith seemed a bit tired then, but eventually Smith finished his job. Two upsets in a row for Smith.

2 big wins back to back for Joe Smith. I wouldn’t mind seeing him avenge that loss to Sullivan Barrera

Smith, Jr. looked excellent in that fight. Fearless, aggressive, effective. I don’t want to take anything away from the victory... but... Alvarez looked pretty shot to me. I just didn’t see anything (but for a few moments) that looked like he was in the fight.

Smith always brings it, and Alvarez at his age didn't have the temperament and firepower to keep him away. Tremendous performance by Smith.

With Barrera being 38 years old and just having lost to Hart, I actually think I'd rather see Smith/Hart II than Smith/Barrera II.
