Has this gathered big interest where you are? It has here but don’t know if it’s a Yorkshire thing.

Nope. A little bit of talk in the boxing crowd where I am but none of my casual fan mates are talking about it.

A fight has never gathered big interest where I live. Even Fury fights don't gather much more than a passing interest and he only lives up the road. Nobody knows Luke Campbell here.

At the moment with DAZN it’s sort of like the fight isn’t happening in terms of media coverage
Sky artfully ignoring it and looking the other way of course

I know a few boxing heads that have mentioned the fight and a few combat sport fans at work. They’ve briefly mentioned it, although I’m the one that has started the actual conversation and if it wasn’t for me, they probably wouldn’t know Campbell is fighting Garcia..

Yeh, it just goes go to show.
Unless people follow DAZN, it’s not like they have a TV channel.
Sky have Sky Sports News and it would have been mentioned daily on that.
BT don’t have a news channel, but they’d still advertise is.
Hearn cant go and tell Sky to put an ad up for the fight on Sky Sports News. Even though its Matchroom. I think Hearn needs to do more to actually promote DAZN here in the UK.
Apart from boxing fans, no one really knows.

You gotta give it to Luke, he isn't messing about and he hasn't opted for a soft comeback after the Lomachenko fight. He's the underdog again, up against some serious hype tonight that may yet prove to be more than that.

His age means he should be taking these fights now , plus he is somewhere abouts world level , so why not .
Hope he can do it , rooting for the lad .

Feel a bit bad saying this as I like and rate Luke but boxing would benefit from him getting absolutely trounced tonight. We need superstars to come through and Garcia could be one.

I think Hearn did push the Golovkin/Canelo vs Smith shows fairly heavily over here - at least on social anyway.
He hasn’t done much for this one as he’s not promoting it. If the fight tonight drives loads of subscribers then, if anything, it may reflect poorly on Eddie particularly if it drives more subscribers than his recent shows.

Not as impressed with Garcia as some of the other young guns, a bit of an upright chin in the air pot shotter, though i think he'll get it done here
This sums it up for me as well. Can't see Garcia living with the likes of Lopez and Tank as he seems to leave that chin up invitingly and doesn't seem to have the same level of boxing skills, but think he'll have enough to wear down Luke and finish him. Interested in seeing how he copes if he gets drawn into deep waters though.

Have you not heard of two other young lightweights named Teófimo López or Gervonta Davis who have made a bit of a splash already?

Yes, but I am a middle aged boxing dinosaur. Young casual people haven't heard of Davis or Lopez but Garcia is already quite well known in the mainstream and is seen in some influential circles as having the potential to be the most marketable boxer on the planet.

I’ve read that Garcia will earn a guaranteed $500k which could increase to up-to $2m depending on DAZN Subs.
Campbell will earn around $400k, could potentially increase to $1m..
These are not confirmed, so don’t take my word for it. They’re based on the boxers contracts.

Yep - the lad’s somehow got the best part of 8m Instagram followers. c.20 times that of Teofimo and 3x that of Gervonta. He’s got loads of potential to drive boxing massively on the west coast of America. I also don’t really consider Gervonta a lightweight yet - he’s had one right there and then fought at Super Feather in his last fight.
Come on Luke!

ExactIy. He's big news already and could be huge. I want to say 'Come on Luke!' too but bigger picture is more important to me.
Come on Ryan!

Well I am rooting for the British lad despite saying at the off I felt Garcia would be too fast handed plus Campbell just tends to get hit .
At least we have a fight to watch tonight !

Yes, I'm looking forward to it.
Unless I know a fighter well personally I always lean towards the one who I think is better for the sport, even when I like them less.
e.g. I think Fury is better than Joshua and I like him more but I want Joshua to beat him.

I was reading today comments from Devin Haney saying he expects to see García make light work of Campbell and queries the lack of quality wins on Campbell’s record.
I hope this is a war but I suspect that Campbell may not have enough firepower to keep García off and may well get overwhelmed and stopped with the speed.

Disappointing that, mate. You’ll be amazed how big Fury is now. The public love him.
