Yeh, does he not want to win the British or Commonwealth?coghaugen11 wrote: ↑11 Apr 2021, 08:04 I’m not liking the way Conor is talking to be honest, sounds almost Prince Patel-like.
Win the British and European titles. Secure a mandatory WBC spot. And win the title abroad. Then you can run your mouth off and talk shit.

He did want to fight for the British but he didn’t want to wait for purse bids so fought Formella instead. Jenkins in the meantime waited 6 months before the scheduled fight date against Essuman before he got injured so bypassing was the right decision for Benn.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑11 Apr 2021, 08:33Yeh, does he not want to win the British or Commonwealth?coghaugen11 wrote: ↑11 Apr 2021, 08:04 I’m not liking the way Conor is talking to be honest, sounds almost Prince Patel-like.

I can’t see him going back for it now as he probably thinks he’s ahead of it.

A British title fight will be tougher than a Vargas fight.

If he gets the Khan fight which is winnable for him at this stage of the Olympians career, British and Euro honours will have been bypassed.maverick23 wrote: ↑11 Apr 2021, 08:48He did want to fight for the British but he didn’t want to wait for purse bids so fought Formella instead. Jenkins would be a tough fight for him but I think the problem was FW didn't want to put his fighter on a Matchroom show, despite it being a big payday for his fighter.

It depends on the opponent.
Would Jenkins beat Formella and Vargas? Maybe but I don’t think they’d be easy fights for Jenkins.
Before Formella I thought Benn/Jenkins was a fairly even fight but I’d massively favour Benn to stop Jenkins now.
Jenkins and his management team were happy with the Benn offer from Matchroom but FW wouldn’t accept it as he wanted it to go to purse bids. Understandably Benn wanted to stay active so gave the purse bid a swerve.
Re: Conor Benn vs. Samuel Vargas - 10 April 2021
Benn hasn't even boxed at British level yet.

I think Formella did come to win - he was just comprehensively beaten by a better fighter. I think Formella/Jenkins is an even fight - I’d maybe even favour Formella.mickey1975 wrote: ↑11 Apr 2021, 10:14No. Jenkins would come to win.maverick23 wrote: ↑11 Apr 2021, 10:10Do you not think Vargas/Formella are equivalent to British level?

Vargas fair enough but I don’t think Formella is/was in journeyman mode. He was just comprehensively beaten.

formella is at least that good, maybe even euro level, ppl have underrated him since been beat him. his wins over mbgegne and arriaze were pretty solid - easily the equivalent of british level. and he clearly has some skills that make him a hard one to get rid of , even for world level guys like portermaverick23 wrote: ↑11 Apr 2021, 10:10Do you not think Vargas/Formella are equivalent to British level?
but let's can the vargas stuff. even jenkins would beat him. formella would outbox him without many issues too. even that finn guy benn smoked took him to helll and got robbed in vargas hometown. when vargas is in fights he's supposed to win he's still pretty dumpy, when he's brought in as the opponent he pretty much stands there like a punch bag

Can’t really argue with that. Pretty classy comment from Amir.
