my views on the fight.....

Benn won clearly but he really did show his limitations and he is far from ready for the higher eschelons of the division for another 18 months.

Benn was swinging wildly like a drunk outside a pub for some of the fight. There was no plan B really when he could not get Granados out of there.

Benn looked good. A bit wild, but good overall. He needs to step up against someone, who will give him a fight.

He tries to fight like his dad but lacks the punch. He didn't look bad, but will have to be matched well to win a world title. As a person I like him. All his tattoos freak me out though. It hints at some underlying psychological disturbance.....

I did bump into Tony Sims and his kid about an hour south of Leeds in the early hours.
They looked a little pissed off tbh.

You should've approached them and explained it could've been worse for them, they could go home and find Mike Tyson in bed with their wife and then would have to tuck him in....

benn fought like he thinks he's some big ko artist, he has a lot of speed and can put his shots together well when he does, needs to work the jab more and also throw more shorter/non loaded up shots in between the big swings.

Maybe not quite Arturo Gatti .. but matched well he can provide entertainment.

Why not? Even if he loses, but gives Ugas a fight, he'll make himself a bigger name. While it'll be a helluva experience. Young fighters should do like that instead of fighting easy opponents.

I agree. If Ugas outboxes Benn then Benn just moves on. It’s no biggie. Benn could lose to Ugas handily and still have an amazing career.

Hard to know how good ugas is. I suspect too good and too big for Connor at this point. I mean, it’s a title fight, and they can be hard to find at 147 so I can see why he is at least saying he wants it.

He should fight Jeff the hornet horn.

why is it hard to know how good ugas is? that's something we say about guys who havent been tested, but he's been in with a bunch of solid operators. what does he need to do for you to know how good he is?

since his comeback he's been a legit top 10 welter, prob top 5 now. his performances have been consistent and steady, and i thought he beat porter too. this is obviously a far different fighter from the pre-comeback version, and he's proved that over and over and over against better opponents than the ones who beat him early in his career

i rate conor but he needs a lot of work before i'd give him good odds vs uggy. i think more suitable but still 'showing confidence in him' opponents would be the likes of: lipinets, clayton, josesito lopez, avanesyan...........beat one of them and the next step up would be a top 10 guy .i am thinking guys like chris van heerden, algeiri, or mo hooker might be brought in though

Conor is a chip of his father's block. He has enough spite and hard work ethic to get to a big fight.....but he will fall short and earn big money at same point. Think he and Eubank junior have done amazingly and exceptionally well with the limited amateur background to get where they have.....just shows up the hunger and desire instilled from their fathers to know that pro boxing is all about balls, hard work, generating interest and most importantly earning the most money possible. Who could blame them.

Fair point, I sn’t ugas kinda old and sick though? Might have faded a lot since porter I’m not entirely sure. My comment really means “ hard to know how good ugases performance vs manny was” because manny is very very old and inactive.

only saw the highlights which made benn look like he bossed it from the 1st bell reading here looks like that was not the case, i give benn me dues i never thought he would have got this far , is he still improving now though i not sure he took a few shots, i think he will give some one a fight dont think he will win

he was okay. won widely and showed good athletiscim, imo he's comfortably above brit title guys like jenkins, essuman, etc. but had issues setting his offense up and missed a lot, often wildly. too many haymakers and no adjustments when it became obvious he was gonna have problems landing much clean fighting that way,

he fought a bit like he thought of himself as some huge puncher who's gonna bang them all out, maybe stopping vargas in 1 went to his head.
