he also went on a multi page tantrum in another thread just because i said that former british hw funso banjo was okay but not particularly good

One just sprung to mind, and it’s rather simple - Benn-Eubank 1.
Eubank was unknown, no wins against top guys. Benn was absolutely awesome blowing out America’s toughest DeWitt and Barkley over there.
Nobody gave Eubank a prayer it seemed. Apart from those very few in the know who’d seen Eubank in gyms. A few guys in New York were suggesting not to write Eubanks off which was curious.

Personally, a fair bit. He got decent coverage in the UK, I remember seeing a few of his fights on ITV. I remember the first Benn fight quite well and I remember thinking it was a dangerous one for Nigel if he didn’t manage to chin Chris early doors.

I remember the Logan and Wisinewski fights on ITV (not live). He was nervous and raw against Logan in a hard-fought upset win. Breathtakingly good against Wisinewski, granted.
He was on locally in London (not live) v Cronin. Then back on ITV (not live) v Hugo Corti.
His first live fight on ITV was the 12-round borefest with Argentinian Contreras.
Then the Milo fight was also ITV live but he just fucked about and people were leaving early.
Dos Santos wasn’t live but was shown a lot in hyping the Benn fight. For the pose.
So we didn’t see much of the bloke. Anyone who caught the Wisinewski fight late at night on midweek sports special back in mid-89 with Nick Owen would’ve saw he was a bit special though!

You’ve some memory. I didn’t remember all those names. The other thing about Eubank was his unbelievable cockiness. It’s a long time ago now, but I’m sure that also made an impression on me. As in, it’s impossible to behave like that unless you can back it up.

DeWitt and Barkley as tough as they were weren't anywhere near the best America had to offer at that time, they were solid top 10 middleweights at the time, nothing more and Barkley hadn't even fought for a year.
You're obsession with Eubank is quite delusional, biggest upset ever, it's not even the biggest upset by a British fighter.

Barkley was America’s number-two middleweight behind Michael Nunn at the time. Nunn (then rated pound for pound #1) struggled like hell with him over the distance.

We’re listing upsets you prat. Nobody is saying Eubank v Benn was the biggest upset ever - the bookies odds didn’t reflect it, though heavily in Benn’s favour they weren’t extortionate. Odds-wise Eubank-Collins I was a bigger upset.
