I have always enjoyed interviews with him but I've recently got into Dave's YouTube channel, his fight previews/reviews are really good and there's some decent content up there; plus he is a really funny chap. Always comes across as likeable and is probably far too honest for his own good.

Hi Rich, I enjoy them too, I also find the lack of editing refreshing.

I agree, I think Makhmudov will fall apart and he is cumbersome so Dave can definitely take advantage of that. I wonder how much he'd get paid for that, 6 figures?

I always like listening to dave he knows the sport and is honest , seen him talking about the DD fight and he brought up and was brutaly honest saying DD's corner was a shambles with Daniels dad sticking his nose in , What is it with dads every trainer has it ,

Watched an interview this week with Ingle saying he always used to tell the dad's to pipe down, mentioned Brook's father (not the biological Pa the gent who raised him)

Absolutely mental opponent for him. I can only see it going the same way as some others, out on his stool in the mid to late rounds, or TKO'd on his feet.

Surely, Allen Vs Whyte 2 and Chisora Vs Zhang make more sense?

I'd argue Zhang is better than Makhmudov in every thing they're both good at and Makhmudov is weaker than Zhang in every thing they're both weak at.

I don’t disagree with you mate. I just think if Allen is still there after 6 rounds Zhang will be running on empty and even with Allen’s low output I think he could throw enough to get Zhang out of there. Makhmudov had a high work rate late in the fight, Zhang I’m sure wouldn’t be able to

Even if it goes the same way as the Mak fight, it will still be a good one.

Zhang has been shit for most of his career… his rise to a big dog in the division came from beating Joyce…. Which who knows how good a win that was. Obviously his hrg and Parker performances were pretty good too.

He is 42 and inactive with gas tank issues in the past.

Not saying Dave is favorite… but if Allen fights Jan and Zhang sits and waits and then they fight in June… anything could happen.

Tbh everyone does this thing about Allen gassing people out and knocking them out but apart from guys like Fisher and Webb it dont work against any decent boxer as Allen dont throw enough and cant make anyone half decent work/tire themselves out on the front foot. If i was Allen id push myself to get in much better shape and have a few fights against very beatable opponents and then cash out in a big fight where hes in proper shape and has good momentum/active. Zhang if he dont ko allen early will just stand their and mess him about for points win. Allen needs to be managed very carefully for his next few fights as he is a household name and do good tickets in sheffield.

This is what I'm thinking. It will likely look like Allen Vs Price. I predicted Allen to have a good chance against Makhmudov and Price for that Matter but Zhang is significantly better than both of them. He will have no reason to do anything except tee off from the outside with jabs, straights and combinations, not letting Allen get close to him, similar to how Price defeated him. I think it's correct to step up every now and then to test yourself after getting a big win but he's just had a loss after stepping up so I don't see why stepping up even further would help. If he wants to try and beat a faded veteran whose chin and gas tank may have become questionable, he should try and get some revenge on Ortiz. Wilder, Whyte or Joyce could be other options who could be slightly more bearable than Zhang.

Whenever Dave wins a fight such as the Browne, Fisher and Webb fights there is this absolute horrendous over-reaction in terms of what his next fight should be.

'Oh he's beaten Johnny Fisher, the southern area champion. After a close decision loss in their first fight where he should have won a close decision! Yeah definitely throw him in with a fringe World level guy!'

I said before the Mak fight was announced he needs British title level fights, or something in between Fisher and Makmudov, and ultimately the guy likely to be the next British champion had absolutely no problems beating him. He didn't wear Frazer Clarke down with this unbelievable chin of his did he?

ya good point, dave doesnt really put on the pressure to make guys work hard

mak hadnt shown great stamina either and never been 12. stopped by body shots before. but he coasted it mostly vs dave

zhang has stamina issues, but been 12 multiple times with guys much better than dave - parker, hrgovic. he could just keep winning low tempo rounds over and over. wild card for zhang would be his age more than anything

i agree with what was said above, rather see allen vs british level guys, much prefer vs say adele
