I just don`t buy it sorry Stu.

I took my boy to the gym pretty much as soon as he could hold his hands up; from age about 7-8yrs old hitting the bag and windmilling/sparring, right up until he was about 12-13 and basically showed me he had zero interest in it. If he decided to give it a go now I wouldn`t put any weight to those early years.

Tommy Fury looks better than the similarly experienced Campbell Hatton ... although he is still very much a novice.
Jake Paul is naturally bigger, and I expect he will have a better team around him too.

That said; its a celebrity boxing event. Best of luck to both kids - no way will Tommy have the opportunity to earn more in any of his subsequent fights - even if he wins (unless its against Logan Paul of course)

That's fine and I cant say I've followed Tommy's career closely. Re your lad I think it would depend on his age, but if he was still young then he would re learn what he knew quicker than a raw novice....old dog new tricks and the like.

As I say I dont follow Tommy's career and had he turned over after love island I would be far more sceptical of him. The fact he turned over at 19 makes me more confident that his team felt he was ready. The Campbell Hatton analogy is a good one, now I'm not declaring hes going to even ever win an English title, but I dont think it should be considered that anything other as a proper boxer and his team would have advices him to stay amateur if they didnt think he could beat the usual suspects of journeyman. I think the same applies to Tommy. He would have been told to stay amateur until he got the basics....again that doesnt mean to say his team, or i, think hes going to win anything. I just feel they wouldnt have told him to turn over if they disnt feel he had the raw basics. I don't think you can learn that in 2 years, which is why I favour Fury strongly

well, it was also the perfect time to turn over with his bro being in the spotlight

and with like 10 am fights in like 8 years or whatever it was, he clearly wasnt into the am game

Boxing Scene has confirmed a ten-round battle of undefeated junior welterweights between Liam Paro and Yomar Alamo will land on the undercard of the upcoming grudge match between Jake Paul (4-0, 3KOs) and Tommy Fury (7-0, 4KOs). Paro-Alamo is the fourth set contest on the Showtime Pay-Per-View event which takes place December 18 at AMALIE Arena in Tampa, Florida.

The bout is expected to be formally announced on Tuesday. Showtime is already scheduled to host a press conference in New York City for another fight on the card, pitting NBA star Deron Williams and legendary NFL running back Frank Gore in their respective pro debuts. Brooklyn-bred seven-division titlist Amanda Serrano (41-1-1, 30KOs) will also appear to discuss her lightweight bout with Spain’s Miriam Gutierrez (14-1, 5KOs) which serves as the co-feature.

Paro (21-0, 13KOs) will make his U.S. debut on the high-profile card, fighting for the first time outside of his native Australia. The 25-year-old southpaw from Brisbane—who is a managerial stablemate of Jason and Andrew Moloney under the guidance of Tony Tolj—will fight for the third time in 2021, coming off of a ten-round, unanimous decision win over Steve Gago this past July in Eatons Hill, Australia.

Alamo (20-0-1, 12KOs) also fights for the third time this year, though far more familiar with the surroundings. The 26-year-old prospect from Caguas, Puerto Rico has proven to be a reliable box office attraction during his past seven fights in Central Florida, all taking place in Kissimmee. His fans are expected to make the two-hour trek to Tampa, where he will need that support in perhaps his toughest test to date.

In his most recent outing, Alamo outpointed Adrian Yung over ten rounds this past August at Osceola Heritage Park in Kissimmee. Alamo has headlined at—and has sold out—the venue in each of his last six appearances, including a ten-round majority decision win over Kendo Castaneda in their February 2020 battle of unbeaten rising prospects.

The main event marks the third consecutive PPV headliner for Paul, who signed an exclusive deal with Showtime earlier this year. The content creator and rising cruiserweight made his platform debut this past August 29, forced to go the distance for the first time in an eight-round split decision win over former UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Paul’s old hometown of Cleveland, Ohio. I actually think that both Dubois and Joe Joyce have been poorly matched/promoted this year.

Joyce has one fight and seemingly no injuries. Seemingly no fight lined up either.

Dubois had decent exposure on the Paul undercard fight in the US but unless he’s going to continue fighting there then what’s the point? He’s fought 2 heavily overmatched guys and hasn’t had the learning fights needed to push on.

The HW division is very hard to really get a world title shot. Even as mandatory, you could be waiting 2 years. In that time you HAVE to be keep busy and on too that, make sure you don’t lose.

I could listen to John for hours. Half of it is complete bollocks but entertaining and the other half is quite insightful.
