I knew Eric in his heyday in the late 80s, where he’d be racing all over country in his motor, camera in the boot plus a load of vhs cassettes, he worked a bit for Frank Maloney as I recall, and was mates with pretty much all the main boys on the UK fight scene, getting tapes for their upcoming opponents, probably free or at cost. I used to exchange with him a lot, but he doesn’t remember now, I think his memory is shot.
He’d trade me tapes of the shows he’d filmed, fighters like Honeyghan, Michael Watson, Benn sparring Duran, that hadn’t been televised, and I’d get him overseas shows for particular opponents that he was after, for home fighters to scout. He’d turn up outside my work & I’d go out and we’d exchange tapes from his car boot …all very Arthur Daley ha ha.
I even filmed a show for him when he had two to cover one night. He complained that I’d spent a lot of show filming the ceiling, although to be fair a friend of mine boxed that night and got knocked cold in 30 seconds, so i was probably in shock
He’s a good lad, bit brash maybe & winds some up , but his hearts in the right place. Sorry to hear he’s hit the skids, times are tough, I got laid off in the pandemic too, after 30 years work, getting by on a wing and a prayer.
This is a great post. Eric has helped out thousands of fighters down the decades in their desire to view pending opponents, probably for nothing. Steve Holdsworth did the same. I remember the American Tony DeLuca thanking Steve profusely after his world title encounter with Duke McKenzie at the Albert Hall, although this is one example where studying an opponent did more harm than good. McKenzie was dead at the weight and right there for the taking but DeLuca showed too much respect and lost on cuts in four rounds.

Did I Fûck.
Don’t be a prick about this Mimmy you weirdo.
I said as soon as I seen the horrible thread title you’ve made to get it back to how it was.
You prick.
I have no idea what you are on about.
Plus I'm a fat prick so please don't miss the fat out.
I couldn't give a toss about both threads, I have no connection with either. The fact of the matter is there were 2 threads regarding the same issue one was entitled Eric Guy Fundraiser the other had a longer title, I can't really remember 100% how it was called so I'm not going to guess.
All I did was merge them both together
There's the proof from the log. Time and date.
Tommy I have no reason to tamper with any posts and I very much doubt any other mod did, well in fact I know no other mod did.
Please in future what ever obscenity you call me add the 'fat' to it as it's more in fitting with me.
Pretty sure the logs should confirm the thread was split too.
All I'm bothered about is that I had nothing to do with any of this set up, and I've provided info to Tommy that I have indeed had nothing to do with it. Tommy had a go at me without an iota of proof that I was involved. I very much doubt I will get an appology but at least my hands are clean.
I know I never had any involvement and none of the mods did, I'm sticking my neck out declaring that fact for good or bad.
If I make an error I'll hold my hands up and take what's due, I'll also back my men up to for good or bad. It's the way I'm cut, I'm from Doncaster, straight up and down!
