Eddie didn’t have a choice. It’s something CBS clearly wanted and despite Eddie talking about it for 18 months he wasn’t able to deliver it whilst Boxxer did.

CBS is in a good position now. Boxxer will want to keep him and can deliver the Riakporhe fight whilst I’m sure Eddie will want him back to be able to say that CBS tried Sky but wanted to come back.

I hope CBS gets a big payday next as his style doesn’t translate to a long career. Perhaps Matchroom can deliver the Opetia fight in Australia as it looks like Riakporhe is chasing Makabu.

Can’t see that happening. Barry likes to control everything and without his own TV deal that isn’t happening.

Surely Eddie had the resources to put Billam-Smith on at Bournemouth, it was something that was always mooted, he's got Dalton Smith headlining Sheffield next week

He did have the resources. It just wasn’t a big DAZN show and wasn’t a nxtgen either so said he couldn’t do it. I don’t really agree with that approach.

They had something like 3,500-4,000 there last night. Place was busy and created a good atmosphere too. If it had been on DAZN it would have made the subscribers happy but wouldn’t have driven new subs which seems to be Eddie’s focus now.

Apparently they’re looking at over 5,000 at the Sheffield Arena for Dalton Smith which is great really considering the times we’re in, the level of the main event and the fact it’s a nxtgen show.

Earn with Hearn could have put this show on, I'd be interested in his reasoning for not doing it when he clearly could have.

Smith eats far too many shots, luckily for him Chamberlain isn't a big hitter at this weight. I don't see a long career for Smith. He's far too easy to hit and I am surprised Mcguigan hasn't been able to tighten up his defence.

You're giving Eddie a lot of credit here. Billam Smith wasn't in contract, Eddie has got a limited number of dates (this nxtgen rebirth is simply a way of describing a paper thin undercard), and DAZN are clearly squeezing budgets.

Re: the 5,000 for the Dalton Smith show, come off it. A cursory glance at the Arena map shows they have set it up for the lower bowl only and there are entire blocks and rows of seats left plus the unsold with the boxers. They'll make it look decent because that's what Matchroom do.

I can't remember the Riakporhe fight but he lost on a SD and apparently there was a contested knockdown. Without that he would have won. Like CBS - gives it everything.

Re: CBS, I don’t give Eddie any credit. He should have got CBS a fight in his home town as he said he would several times. It just seems he didn’t want to do it.

I hadn’t looked at the seating plan (just saw a couple of people on Twitter claim it’s done over 5,000) but the way it’s laid out and seeing what’s left, I wouldn’t be surprised if they’re somewhere between 4-5,000 tickets gone. Obviously may be some boxer returns but that’s a shed load more than I was expecting when it was announced. I guess we’ll have a better gauge on fight night.

Wonderful fight :box: They both put their heart & souls into it, but CBS that bit more

CBS was good value for his win and Chamberlain pushed him the whole way.

Great determination and effort displayed by both boxers.

Career best night for CBS defending his European & Commonwealth titles at home in Bournemouth in a gruelling clash and the fans turning up in their droves to roar him on. CBS will remember this night forever :salut:

I dont think its about wants. Whatever Eddie comes out with he is basically being hamstrung right now by DAZNs problems.

Sure there will be close to 4,000 tickets sold/compd for next week and they will make the arena look ok.

Fascinated to see the actual schedule Matchroom come out with for the UK for Autumn. Summer has been a disaster.

Bad choice from Matchroom/DAZN not going with CBS at Bournemouth looked like a great atmosphere and Great venue by the looks of things. Hope more promoters do shows down there. Good night out.

Pleasant surprise for me how good the atmosphere looked on the broadcast, not really thought about Bournemouth as a boxing town before

Eddie/DAZN definitely dropped a bollock by not putting on a decent show like this in Bournemouth.

Ben Shalom saying afterwards that they wanna put on another show back in Bournemouth towards the end of the year. I suspect that owing to the positive reaction, CBS will probably now sign a deal with Boxxer/Sky.

It was a brilliant atmosphere. Not quite a complete sell-out, which was a wee bit of a shame.

You just can't beat good competitive domestic fights. I'm still buzzing from the whole event, beers on the beach beforehand, class main event with an excited crowd. If Carlsberg did perfect Saturdays...

Rematch against Riakpohre or Opetai? Boxxer will surely sign him on a long term deal as he can be exciting and that fight against Chamberlain was terrific.

Knowing boxing though he will probably fight Fabio Turchi for some silver interncontinental interim WBO Euro/South Asia strap.

Where does Chamberlain go from here?

Could he get a fight for the English or something? Mick needs to get him some fights

Just had chance to watch this, good hard fight - plenty of spirit from Chamberlain who was hurt early but kept coming and had some success of his own, CBS deserved the nod but a proper contest :TU:

might be unpopular opinion, but while many decent fights have come out of the british cruiser scene, it's all gotten a bit stale and circle jerky for me. it feels like these guys have no plan or purpose beyond each single fight itself and like the domestic scene wont let them out

cbs and riakporhe despite many solid performances are so entrenched in the domestic scene that the idea of them fighting opetai next sounds silly. proobably got riakporhe 2 and then tommy mac 3, followed by deion juma and jack flattley. and even when riakporhe did fight an international opponent last fight, it was someone his old blowout victim tommy mac already beat ffs.

at the moment it's like riakporhe and cbs have been at the same level for years now. no matter how well they keep beating this type of opposition, they ccant really progress higher than they have unless they step it up and mix it up. do they want to make a push for world level at all? even if they dont fight anyone world level, a good euro title level visitor would be cool for a change

big rick and cbs have been doing well enough for me to want them to push on rather than fighting guy after guy who isnt any better than opponents theyve already beat. it is guys a tier down like flattley, chambo, jumah who should be facing one another
