It's a good match up if the truth is told.
Wilder would likely come in favourite, but the longer it goes the more Ruiz's power could become an important factor in the outcome.
This fight would draw a lot of attention especially if it were promoted correctly.
It'd be a big win for either one of 'em for sure. Wilder could use a few more noteworthy wins on his record. Even though Ruiz is not necessarily the biggest name, he's a former Heavyweight Champion, and would be arguably the biggest win on Wilder's record.
If Ruiz beat Wilder it'd obviously be his biggest win other than AJ, and I'd say it's just as big as AJ if not for the fact that no title would be on the line.
Would you consider it a hot fight, fairly even with fireworks along the way so to speak ?

Wilder can barely make 220, Ruiz could have 30 pounds on him.
Last time out Ruiz looked like sht boxing wise, relied on skirmishes and rallies.
I don't know, like the fight though.

I'd favour Wilder, but not by much.
Ruiz did not look good last time out. It would be Wilder's biggest win, but I doubt he will see it that way.

Ruiz hasn't been looking good enough since the Joshua rematch. And Wilder still can deliver his right hand.

It has potential. It could also be one sided. Just depends.

So here's a curveball. He may just be trying to squeeze more out of PBC but maybe things are being shaken up with the changes to Showtime. Either way, if Wilder looks elsewhere, maybe Ngannou, Whyte or Joshua, then we could see Ruiz against Hrgovic for the Interim IBF title or should he choose to go for the WBC mandatory then his opponents would be, in this order, Sanchez/Makhmudov/Joshua/Whyte.
An interesting turn of events could create some other interesting matchups but I think I'd still rather see Ruiz against Wilder, though I don't want to see Wilder fight Fury or for the WBC belt anytime again soon.

Is this finally gonna get on?
Ruiz has backed out of the Hrgovic IBF purse bids.

Hopefully so! This fight was first floated in 2019, its now 2023...
I honestly, thought they would stop protecting the Wilder brand once the Fury trilogy was over. When we were eventually allowed to see Ruiz Jr. v Ortiz, I thought it was a sign that things had finally changed. But it seems like Wilder has other ideas.
Enough is enough, this fight needs to be made.

So Ruiz’s dad has said he has left PBC.
Don’t know if he’s still being advised by Al.
PBC are sinking fast.
Wilder also said, whilst he’s still affiliated with PBC, he’s open to working with other promoters and networks and will listen to offers.

For me Wilder should be win quite easily. The only doubt is his age.

yep. Ruiz maybe lost a bit of hunger after the highs of that Joshua win (and the subsequent year-long taco and beer fest).
Still a match I'd pay to watch though.

Ruiz said he' still associated with PBC, still being advised then.
He's just no longer tied down to TGB Promotions (PBC's primary promoter)..

“On behalf of myself and Team Ruiz, we would like to thank TGB Promotions and President Tom Brown for their great support,” Ruiz stated through his verified social media accounts. :My contract with TBG Promotions has come to an end & I will now be moving forward as part of the PBC Family with Al Haymon as my advisor.”
Re: Deontay Wilder vs. Andy Ruiz Jr. | PPV - Who wins?
Deontay Wilder facing Andy Ruiz Jr. in a WBC heavyweight title eliminator, is back in the works following months of doubt over the contest.
Despite the WBC ordering the fight after Wilder stopped Robert Helenius in his WBC mandatory semi-final, “The Bronze Bomber” failed to follow through.
Instead, Wilder opted to keep his options open, even as Ruiz played his part in securing a spot in the final by defeating Luis Ortiz.
The World Boxing Council set up the four-strong tournament in the middle of 2022. The end goal was to sanction a mandatory from Wilder, Ruiz, Helenius, and Ortiz.
WBC officials confirmed the plan before Fury put his belt on the line in the UK last year.

Las Vegas or Los Angeles
“That’s the buzz fight right now [Wilder vs Ruiz. It’s looking like that might be the route we end up going,” Scott told ESNews,
“Deontay is in the position where so many big fights are lined up that anything or any opponent can possibly change.
“Andy Ruiz is definitely one of the main options right now. We’ll see where it lands. I’d like to see it at the Crypto Centre, and I like Vegas,” concluded the former heavyweight contender.
News of Wilder vs Ruiz will please Al Haymon as his company Premier Boxing Champions, will be favorites to promote the fight.
Wilder and Ruiz worked with PBC before becoming free agents, making a TV deal easy to conclude for a Showtime Pay Per View.

Think that fight just needs to get over the line. It's been rumoured on and off for the best part of a year.

this photo could actually be the key to victory for ruiz. use his massive weight to crush deontay's foot

I know this is a bit radical, but if Andy trimmed down, worked on his cardio instead of the buffet- I believe he could outbox Wilder.

Liked the idea of this matchup when it was first mooted and glad it is back on the radar.
Not a fight I expect the judges will be required for.

“No, I don’t see that. Listen, if Deontay Wilder is going to fight Anthony Joshua, he definitely ain’t fighting Andy Ruiz. don’t forget, we’re nearly middle of June, we’re coming up to July. AJ’s trying to fight August 12th, but we need to announce this week.
I don’t believe Wilder and Ruiz are gonna announce their fight anytime soon. Then, there’s no way that Saudi would let Wilder fight in the back end of August or September before he fights Anthony Joshua in December.
Subject to what Wilder does will Skill Challenge and Saudi Arabia, I’m actually not sure he’ll fight in the interim. But I do not believe it will be Andy Ruiz. Might be wrong, but I’d be very surprised if he took that fight before Anthony Joshua.”

Reports are Wilder wants a 70/30 split and the offer Ruiz has received is loosely based on that.
I can understand Wilder expecting the split to be in his favour but 70/30 is probably a bit much and I can understand Ruiz wanting more.
60/40 in Wilder's favour would probably be about right IMO. But this has dragged on for way too long and for too many times, and it is time they got the fight made or just forget about it.

Smart to ask for more than you think you'll end up with. Negotiate, hopefully don't kill the fight.

in most cases it is almost imperative to ask for more than you are offered. You are a mug if you don't.
What is annoying in this case is, they have been talking about this fight on and off for 7 months and they are still poles apart on the negotiations. Do they want a payday or not?

Ruiz barely got by a guy about 10 yrs past his prime, Ortiz, with the help of the ref. Regardless, if Ruiz is close to even with Ortiz at this point, he sucks for being prime age.

Ruiz Jr. is really good at walking guys down. Wilder will have issues with this fight. I give him a puncher's chance as always, though.
