Thought it was an easy fight to score. And had SD up. Couldn't giver the Mung-ster more than 5 rounds. SD could have had a 10-8 for round 5.
my card was
sergey: 1, 3, 5, 8, 9, 10
mungy: 2, 4, 6, 7, 11, 12 + kd
6 a piece, with mung edging it with the kd. like 2 of the judges i thiought sergey was ahead going into the 12th, but mung scraped it out with the final round kd. although i agree the 5th was boarderline 10-8 even without a kd for sergey, but not quite enough for me to score it that way. fair decision, was actually expecting wider cards
awesome fight, great back and forth action throughout, a late round comeback and final round drama to determine the result
Watched it again. You are on the money Margaret.
Munguia pulled it out. Two out of three of the cards got it right.
Still cannot believe that Derev got up and finished after that liver shot.

I had 1, 3, 5, 6, 8, 10 for Derev
and 2, 4, 7, 9, 11, 12 for Mung.
Even in rounds, Mung took the ending and dropped Derev there.
No question about a winner here.

Great stuff. Munguia has my respect now, the first real challenge for him and he took it home, 114-113 I scored it. I kinda feel bad for Derecyanchenko (who looked OLD, by the way) though. The DAZN commentator said "and Sergiy Derevyanchenko gets robbed AGAIN) and I think he referred to couple of his fights, especially the GGG one. I never watched that, what do you guys think? Charlo beat him fair and square, I think.

Sergiy's fight against GGG arguably could have been a draw. GGG was sick though. I feel bad for Sergiy, but that's the way sports is sometimes such as when the Utah Jazz lost to Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls in the NBA finals two years in a row and the Buffalo Bills losing in the Super Bowl four consecutive years. In three of Sergiy's five losses, he was knocked down in one of the rounds (GGG, Daniel Jacobs, and Munguia). If he didn't get knocked down against Munguia, it probably would have been a draw because two judges scored it 114-113.

Even if its hard to admit but G got beat by Chenko, maybe it was a draw at best. Chenko really gave hell to GGG in that fight, maybe more like any other opponent that G ever faced at pros.
Yeah, G was the older fighter and Chenko was the younger fighter but I'd have liked to see GGG giving an immediately rematch to Chenko at that time.
Chenko fought very good vs Jacobs, GGG and Munguia and I think he should've got at least the draw in those fights.

If he didn't get knocked down in each fight, he may have won all three.
Time for Munguia to step up more and fight one of these guys: Benevidez, Morrell, Andrade, or Plant. Mall Charlo may get the Canelo fight.

Yeah, those KD's were weighing a lot for the favorites but imo Chenko looked like
the man in those fights.
Chenko really deserves to get a belt bc it would be a pity for a talented fighter like him to leave the sport without being a champion.. WBA, IBF and WBO belts are winnable for Chenko.

Third time I have scored a Derevyanchenko fight 114-113 for his opponent.
Jacobs, GGG and now this one.

my man sergey needs to stop taking those kds, a 6-5 lead he had was turned into a loss. even if he had lost the last round clearly but stayed on his feet it woulda been a draw. turn his 10-8 rounds vs ggg and jacobs into 10-9 rounds for him and he wouldnt have lost those fights either
i dont think he's ever been robbed. he just doesnt get it over the line and in a very close fight you cant be taking those knockdowns. might be the best 14-5 fighter ever. it would be great for him to get a guy like falcao for a vacant title - that I think he could win

Myabe I'm wrong but I don't see Chenko being ranked in top 10 by ABC orgs, not even in the IBF rankings, which is strange.
I mean Chenko should be in line to fight for the IBF title, with ease.
Also I could see Chenko beating Lara too.

Anytime you want to go over Munguia's boxing ability please let me know, I'll gladly do it for you.
He's absolutely appalling for a boxer with 42 fights.
They're just feeding him easy bouts to maintain his unbeaten record and he's just barely getting by, it's as simple as that.
If this was Munguia's 10th fight I'd let it go and probably say he's still learning his trade, but it's not, it was his 42nd fight and he looks like he hasn't learned barely anything.

Actually, I thought you were speaking of Derevyanchenko. Munguia has had a very protected record but he did fight an amazing fight against the Ukrainian.

munguia has world level offense. he's got a good chin and stamina seems good too. but he eats punches like they're a delicious breakfast.
at times it looked like derev was using his head as a double end bag

Now they're talking David Benevidez v Jamie Munguia.
That's more like it isn't it.

cant see golden boy going for that, doesn't really fit with how mung's career has been guided.
mungy vs shane mosley jr in an all golden boy fight would be more likely id think. basically like another munguia-ballard (who little shane just beat)
since mung just beat a tough opponent in a tough fight id bet they have him in softer next

It's a shot at one of the hottest fighters in boxing today.
It's an opportunity.
Has Munguia had enough experience in the professional ranks with a record of 42-0 ?
I think he needs 29 more fights but that's just me
Come on now, Benevidez v Munguia is no brainer.

i mean he couldve been facing hot fighters long before this, yet look at who he has faced. clearly that's not his priority. he's never taken a risk anywhere near like fighting benavidez (who is associated with a personal rival of oscar's). he basically can crushes for several fights, then mixes in the occassional decent opponent. he just had his decent opponent, it should be a softer touch next - mosley is in house and a step down from sergey, just makes more sense to me

After the tough-scary fight that Mung had with Chenko, Mung would probably be coddled with really soft opponents until Canelo would decide to fight him.

It's crazy how long it takes modern day boxers to finally fight someone of note.
It's not just Mung, atleast he had a title before.
After 31 fights someone as talented and skilled as Boots didn't even have a (real) title shot yet.
That's wild.
