It’s odd sometimes looking a modern day fighters record and seeing few significant fights there. I think with Hatton it feels like there’s more because every fight was hyped up, even before he won a world title. I think the observation he stagnated after the obvious Tyzu peak is correct. Probably only the Castillo fighter was impressive. Urango was a decent result against a good fighter. I don’t really recognise that pre Tyzu he’d faced particularly amazing overseas opposition. There was a fair bit of good matchmaking going on and trading on names which was fading or faded. Probably Magee was the only properly dangerous fighter pre-title. And that was a tough one, and only the Irishman’s lack of conditioning got that one home really.

Well probably. He is a great demonstration of levels. He really murdered some British level fighters like Stephen Smith. You could have Magee as a decent European level fighter, and that was more of a struggle but a clear win. He did achieve a lot, I suppose I’m just surprised he didn’t get at least one more big win after Tszu. There was a sense that once the left hook to the body was defended against, perhaps the punching power in head shots was average at higher levels.
to be fair it wasn't hit fault Urango and Maussa were the beltholders, don't forget Urango would get off the floor to stop Randall Bailey after that and I think Bailey was on a good run at the time
I think giving Paulie Malignaggi a boxing lesson was a good result, a right so one sided people still either forget it happened or make excuses for Paulie to this day that he got a jabbing lesson from the pub brawler
He also has underrated domestic wins, demolished guys like Jason Rowland who had the cuts victory over Thaxton

Sorry, that's another one I've been put off, his period of bitterness with NoI I can understand because of the horrific racism he faced, so he turned a bit radical in that regard flirting with separatism etc but he seemed to settle down, but licking up the Hutus. I'm referring to how the NoI used him for his money and fame. Ali wasn't particularly politically aware or academically smart, so it's understandable how he, living in a racist society with a history of race based slavery, got drawn into their orbit with their message of black pride and self determination(they believed a lot of nonsense as well)and was taken advantage of.

I Know, I reference the I f!hence of the Nation of Islam over him and Why he would be as bitter as he was for a period, but palling around with the Hutus while talking about the injustices of Africa being exploited by colonialism
I know he wasn't massively politically aware because he never had the chance to get properly educated he was self taught, but he surely knew who the hell the Hutus were, and how they are actually a descendant of western colonialism, not an opposition to it, hence Rwanda, a lot of perpetrators have names out of a French play, because they descend from Belgian colonists

Dancing on Ice's first contestant revealed as British boxer Ricky Hatton
British former professional boxer Ricky Hatton has been announced as Dancing On Ice's first contestant for the new 2024 series.
The name of the first contestant was teased throughout This Morning on Tuesday by hosts Holly Willoughby and Ben Shephard. Ricky's outline could be seen and a number of clues including boxing gloves were used to hint at his identity.

Enjoyed that more than I thought I would, I've seen plenty docus and know enough about his career but the having his folks and Billy Graham was interesting, agree with pretty much every other post from those who've watched it, Billy Graham is a legend, Ray not so much
