Derek Chisora Reveals Why Dillian Whyte Fight Was Pulled And Provides Update On Return
Derek Chisora has explained why his proposed trilogy fight with long-time rival Dillian Whyte recently fell through.
Chisora and Whyte have been two of the most entertaining heavyweights in the division for many years. They are both all-action fighters with big hearts and big chins.
Because of this, their two previous fights were close and engaging battles. The first was in December 2016 and saw Whyte take a split decision win. They then rematched almost exactly two years later, and Whyte repeated his victory, although this time he got a huge KO in the 11th round when it was close on the cards.
Since then, Chisora has gone on to take his fight record to 49 contests with 36 wins in all, and always intended to bow out after his 50th contest, with Whyte long linked as that man.
Speaking to Seconds Out, however, Chisora revealed why the fight fell through.
“The contract is not happening, the contract was not a great contract, so I tore it up.”
He was then asked about when he will now return for his final contest, and where.
“I will look at it next year, yeah, in the UK.”

Re: Derek Chisora vs. TBA | DAZN - 13 December 2025
I wouldn't be surprised if he waited it out for a while. Financially, his best options are Wilder anytime next year, Joshua in Feb, or Dubois if he beats Sanchez which would be a while to wait. Next best options would be Zhang (maybe in China) or Itauma but that is not as financially incentivised and I don't think he'd be willing to lose to those two for less money. However, based on the fact he wanted Whyte and was previously penciled in for Opetaia, I think it will be someone worse unfortunately.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑14 Nov 2025, 05:09Basically ... yh...
he's just gonna be a diva about his 'last fight'
Re: Derek Chisora vs. TBA | DAZN - 13 December 2025
Think top on bottom of it is , He wants a massive payday for his retirement fund , but does'nt want anyone who can hit him back or has a remote chance of winning , so my guess is we have seen the last of Chisora , , I think he can easily get one or the other but the pubic are not stupid enough to pay for both
Re: Derek Chisora vs. TBA | DAZN - 13 December 2025
I dont see him making more against anyone harmless than he would've made against Whyte, which also wouldn't have been much. Other options like this would be Ortiz, Clarke, Allen, Hughie, Yoka or Badou Jack. They won't pay anywhere close to a fight he could lose though.coneye wrote: ↑14 Nov 2025, 06:31 Think top on bottom of it is , He wants a massive payday for his retirement fund , but does'nt want anyone who can hit him back or has a remote chance of winning , so my guess is we have seen the last of Chisora , , I think he can easily get one or the other but the pubic are not stupid enough to pay for both

Deontay Wilder vs Derek Chisora is reportedly now being finalised for April in London
Re: Derek Chisora vs. TBA | DAZN - 2026
Is Wilder really going to risk the Usyk payday?
Chisora is atill too much of a threat to tune up against surely.

This is a good fight and a much better fight. I think Chisora beats him up the entire fight.
Perhaps Turki has convinced Usyk otherwi$e.

DEONTAY WILDER, DEREK CHISORA 'CLOSE' TO AGREEING APRIL FIGHT
Deontay Wilder and Derek Chisora are finalizing a deal that will see the heavyweight contenders clash later this year.
That's according to Wilder's manager, Shelly Finkel, who told Sky Sports: "We are in negotiations and it's close."
News of negotiations were first reported by Brunch Boxing, with an April date in London being targeted.
A fight between Wilder and Chisora comes as somewhat of a surprise. For months, Wilder informed the boxing world that he was deep in negotiations with Oleksandr Usyk, The Ring, IBF, WBA, and WBC heavyweight king. Usyk has also repeatedly stated his desire to face Wilder.
However, Wilder (44-4-1, 43 KOs) now looks to be heading in another direction. The 40-year-old hasn’t looked like his explosive self in years. While he did pick up a victory over Tyrrell Herndon on June 27, 2025, that seventh-round KO may not be enough to sway fans that he’s back to his old ways.
Prior to that victory, the Alabama native lost four of his previous five with three of those defeats coming via stoppage.
Chisora, while older than Wilder, has looked revitalized over the last few years. The former heavyweight title challenger has won three bouts in a row. Following his latest win over Otto Wallin on February 8, 2025, Chisora (36-13, 23 KOs) revealed that he would like to finish his career after his 50th fight.
The rough and rugged veteran will now seemingly pull down the curtain on his career, which could end against former champ Wilder.

Re: Derek Chisora vs. TBA | DAZN - 2026
Personally I would rather see Chisora have some kind of title fight if this is to be his last fight. Whilst very flawed, his run post Fury III kinda warrants a final shot and both Wardley and Gassiev ( if you can consider him a champion) both probably need more of that gatekeeper style fighter before taking on the elite.
Re: Derek Chisora vs. TBA | DAZN - 2026
Just because you're deciding to retire doesn't make you worthy of a title shot.
Re: Derek Chisora vs. TBA | DAZN - 2026
I'm sort of past caring about both these guys anyway. Neither has any relevance so they may as well go at it.
I guess it has to be PPV - so people can decide to watch it or not with their wallets.
They might put on one of those triple header cards, or something else to entice punters.
A five minute highlights package is going to be enough for me

If Del wins then a rematch with Usyk is a natural to set the record straight.

TYSON FURY BELIEVES DEREK CHISORA CAN STOP DEONTAY WILDER
The ink on their contract isn’t dry just yet, but Derek Chisora and Deontay Wilder look to be inching closer to a fight.
News of the two heavyweight contenders possibly fighting has been confirmed by Shelly Finkel, Wilder’s co-manager. Although an official date hasn’t been sorted out just yet, Tyson Fury can’t wait to grab a ringside seat and watch both of his former foes get it on.
Few know Chisora and Wilder like Fury. The former multiple-time heavyweight champion went 5-0-1 against them. With that knowledge, he not only has a feeling on who will win, but also how.
“I’m gonna go with my boy, War Chisora for a stoppage,” Fury said on a self-recorded video posted to his Instagram account.
Fury’s prediction, at least to a degree, stems from Wilder’s lackluster form over the last couple of years. Losses to Fury were followed by defeats against Joseph Parker at the end of 2023 and Zhilei Zhang, by stoppage, in the summer of 2024.
Wilder (44-4-1, 43 KOs) bounced back with a win over Tyrrell Herndon last September.
Chisora, on the other hand, has looked terrific lately. His three consecutive victories over Gerald Washington, Joe Joyce, and Otto Wallin have also impressed the sanctioning bodies as the IBF has him ranked No. 2, while the WBO has him No. 6.
Additionally, Fury wants to see his old friend go out on a high note. Chisora (36-13, 23 KOs) has repeatedly stated that this fight, his 50th, will be the last time he enters the ring. But while Fury will be rooting him on, he’s simply happy that two of his old foes may fight each other.
“I think this is a great fight,” Fury continued. “I fought both of these men three times each and I think it’s a very, very good fight.”

Re: Derek Chisora vs. TBA | DAZN - 2026
If Chisora beats Wilder, what does that say for Wilder's career upon review, and therefore Fury's? Continuing to lose against every single proven opponent he's ever faced isn't a good look for Wilder.

Probably the same as people see Calzaghe v Lacey. Great wins as an underdog against the the huge punching number one at the time. A few clowns who dislike him will try to discredit them.

The credibility of Wilder's career is already shot to pieces. Don't see that a defeat to Chisora makes that much difference.
