He thinks he's going to be able to effectively use movement to stay on the outside and tire Joshua out but really he's just going to run and run and run to avoid any contact between them.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑18 Dec 2025, 04:31 The fight, along with the rest of the bouts will take place in a 22-by-22-foot ring. The standard size for a boxing ring is 20-by-20.
“That’s accurate,” Paul said, confirming the details at the final press conference at Jackie Gleason Theater at The Fillmore. “Pretty standard. I think fights range from 20-foot rings to 24-foot rings. So, 22 feet, I feel great about it.”

Here’s some of what he had to say.
Anthony Joshua on facing Jake Paul
“That’s the whole point of this fight, it creates conversation…and that’s what we want. The more people talking about the fight —regardless of what it is they’re talking about — is a massive bonus. So, for me, I’m not worried about the integrity side, I’m more worried about are they talking? And as long as they are then we’re doing a good job.”
Paul is going to use movement to beat Joshua? The same Paul who gassed against the long since retired Chavez Jr. He'd probably be better off trying to fight on the inside.joshj909 wrote: ↑18 Dec 2025, 04:35He thinks he's going to be able to effectively use movement to stay on the outside and tire Joshua out but really he's just going to run and run and run to avoid any contact between them.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑18 Dec 2025, 04:31 The fight, along with the rest of the bouts will take place in a 22-by-22-foot ring. That's what he's been saying in interviews. He thinks he's much faster and fitter and he thinks that Joshua is slower and struggle to catch him then will tire and become predictable. All that tells me, along with this larger ring, is that he is going to run and run and run because he is not going to like what happens when he takes that first jab.hhaehre wrote: ↑18 Dec 2025, 04:43Paul is going to use movement to beat Joshua? Don't agree.. If he KO's him early.. then it's expected yes.
That's a good point. People who never done any combat sports don't know how hard it is to actually hurt someone who knows how to defend himself and who doesn't wanna get knocked out.
Yep. If Joshua effectively cuts off the ring then he should be able to do it as Paul's defence is not good enough. If he follows Paul like an aimless plodder then he won't. The ref will need to be on point with warning Paul about avoiding the fight but I'm sure he won't.Sendo Takeshi wrote: ↑18 Dec 2025, 05:51That's a good point. Inoue vs Butler comes to my mind as well.
But the difference is just too big. If Joshua stays disciplined (even 70% disciplined) Jake is in trouble.
But Paul isn't exactly the cruiserweight version of Willie Pep. I don't think AJ will have any problems cutting off the ring here, Paul is a relative novice and AJ is a former world champion and Olympic gold medalist. The gap is huuuuuge, it's like a high school player suiting up for the NFL.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑18 Dec 2025, 05:46 It all depends on Paul's approach too.. I highly doubt he's gonna stand toe-2-toe with AJ.. If he did then yeh, he'd get KO'd quick.. but if he runs, moves around, fake jabbing, then AJ is going to expect to be hunting him down.
You can't KO someone who doesn't want to engage either.
The thing is, we are likely not going to see Paul circling around near Joshua's reach in a professional boxing manner. I'm more imagining him fully running away and turning his back to get as far away as possible.hhaehre wrote: ↑18 Dec 2025, 07:09But Paul isn't exactly the cruiserweight version of Willie Pep. It would be illegal to include a clause like that. For those who are desperate for the multi million payday, they would have to accept. Joshua is richer than Paul and makes more per fight than him. In this fight, the only thing that would hold Joshua back is his arroganceRuthless-RKO wrote: ↑18 Dec 2025, 11:34
Anthony Joshua confirms there is no 'go-easy' clause in the contract for his fight with Jake Paul and tells the Mr. Verzace Podcast: "If I can end it in 10 seconds, I'll do it"
Rings are usually measured from the end of the ring outside of the ropes so a 20 x 20 ring is usually a 18 x 18 inside which is the most standard size ring. 24 ft rings are rare and 22 x 22 is not that common. There will be lots of room for Paul to run but will he he have the gas....probably not and AJ will just walk him down as a seasoned pro like him will do. Paul is looking for respect that he doesn't have from the bums he has fought up to now. After sparring Shakur he realized that Tank would have smoked him despite his size advantage but he is stepping up too much with AJ and it will be the old FAFO that could leave him seriously hurt. But hey, he'll get his respect for doing something most wouldn't.hhaehre wrote: ↑18 Dec 2025, 04:43Paul is going to use movement to beat Joshua? He also gets a lot of respect from other fighters.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑18 Dec 2025, 12:51 It’s a genuine heavyweight fight though.
In the shit show side Yh. But Paul’s been boxing for 5+ years now.
He has training camps, he trains. He knows how to box. He’s not got the best basic fundamentals of a boxer but he can throw a punch.
US scene has always been about making the most money. I mean can we really complain about this?
It’s on Netflix.
For many many people, they won’t have to pay a penny.
