Not a fan of the stoppage, very British, not saying Ducar wasn't hurt but he was still trying, and he caught Brown with some huge shots, he definitely needs to tighten up that defence, tbf to Brown he wasn't hurt in the slightest, looks to have a solid beard, he's a good strong boxer Brown, natural strength, good jab, quick to the body, uppercuts from both hands, drops Ducar right at the end of the 5th with a sickening left to the body and again in the 6th with an uppercut through the middle, as I say though Ducar was dangerous with those single shots, Brown was coming on strong still, put Ducar down to a quick knee in the 8th with a couple rights, Ducar hurt but ready to carry on and ref for some reason waved it off, trash tbh

yeah he's pretty basic and it's MatchRoom hype, but he's well-schooled, got proper heavy hands...

Be surprised if he can't win a Euro title in a weak CW division..

yeah agree with MDP - silly stoppage.

Obviously Ducar was hurt and probably getting stopped, but still...

WestEndRiot wrote: 03 Apr 2026, 17:37 I like Brown. Nice style, personality to go with it. But there's no way on earth this should be aain event fight. Even guaranteed stars like AJ were still on undercards after 5 fights.

Ducar was tough, but standard euro fodder. Fine for a 5-0 prospect, but let's see it for what it is
This just shows how much the game has changed in just over a decade.

Now Netflix & that are involved there's no times to build fighters up anymore. It's instant gratification or bust.
As Ruth said, it was a bit like a Nxtgen fight, and I remember them. Spotlight on the prospects, low level, no hope of a competitive fight. But at least it set your expectations.

However, I've heard the name Vasil Ducar far too often over the past few weeks considering his level, all the talk about how tough he is, how he's gonna give him a challenge, but it ended up the same old story.

Maybe it's just me getting old and being annoyed by the same old shite getting hyped way beyond it's potential

Considering that the guy in the fight before this got carried off in a stretcher, maybe an early stoppage was appropriate. Not as if he'd won any rounds, and the pummeling was getting worse and worse.

Alexander was happy to let the home fighter get carried out before.

Brown would have benefitted from getting more rounds

I'm sure Alexander was kicking himself by not stopping the Frenchman after the knockdown

before brown was mentioned about even turning pro, i commented that i liked him from seeing him in the ams. strong guy, good combo puncher, i think pretty fit. he has a fun style too, seems pretty likable, and should do well.

but he really is being hyped beyond his level i think (as his team should do tbf). comments about him being special and like he's been prepped to step in with the elite in big fights (read an article today he's ed's match for moses and being steered to a mega fight with him eventually). but to me he's miles from that level and im not sure he'll ever close. i also think he's got a front runner style where once he starts going downhill it will be precipitous.

like i said, i think hes strong guy and fun to watch. first to stop this guy tbf. i expect him to do well anyway, can see him winning the likes of a euro title. but just not seeing him as a guy who will prove to be a special fighter we see in big time fights

Crolla ref was the same who made a balls up of the Adeleye TKV fight, shouldn't be allowed near a fight again

Brown isn’t showing me anything to suggest he’s world class level. Like so many hyped up British fighters they flatten their fair share of journeymen and low level fighters but as soon as they are put in with someone decent they often come unstuck.

Some of them don't take their earlier opponents seriously..

They get their stoppage wins and he did get hit quite a bit last night.

When they actually step up, he'll go the distance and he'll be more serious i think.

He's definitely got work to do. They need to pull back any thoughts of fast tracking IMO.

Just out of interest, Brown has always been referred to as being a CW but looking at his record he weighed over 200lbs for all his previous fights prior to last night when he weighed in at 199lbs (he was 210lb for one fight). How can he be rated as a CW when he's mainly boxed over the CW limit?

That’s rule number one of discussing sport on the internet - everyone is either crap or amazing, no room for anything in between.

That's usually the case.. He's still campaigning at CW, but until now, non of his fights have had a belt on the line. so usualy they agree they can go over the limit.

Ah ok. He looked huge standing next to Dave Allen after the fight, I wonder what he weighed on the night

do they agree on a limit beforehand? how does this work exactly? and only at CW? not doubting you

Any weight. It's any boxers. when they start up, they don't usualy make the actual weight limits. it's not that important early on.

Look at Usyk's first few fights, slightly over 200 pounds and one was 206 pounds,

Catterall was super lightweight, but they weighed between 140 to 145 for his first few fights.

it's agreed between both boxers, so it's fair.

Amir Khan fought between 135 to 140 up until he had to actually make a specific weight for the first belt he fought for.

These are just some examples, but if you look at any boxers earlier career, up until they fight for a title or an eliminator where it's sanctioned, the they don't make always a specific weight limit,

Catching up on the @MatchroomBoxing prospect card from Friday afternoon my time & OH, MY! Wild co-feature as 154 William Crolla, down 4x, in an all-out battle with Glenn Burne, scored a dramatic comeback KO of the year candidate in rd 7. They were slugging it out & Crolla landed a sick left hand & flattened Byrne. #boxing @EddieHearn @FrankSmith

Watching the Crolla fight and yes he won and fair play , but the ref should of stopped it after any of those KD's , where and how are they going to match Crolla now?
He sells tickets but every fight is a rocky moment, and he's going to get badly stopped and hurt as the refs let him take too much.

Some nice fights on the card. An upset. Big turnarounds. Brown tested.

But I have never seen anyone with as bad defence as Crolla. He’s got zero reflexes. Jordan Thompson I thought just got exhausted. As everyone says, Pat Brown is also way too easy to hit.

They shouldn’t rush him. Just get him to work on defence. Also the UK ref promoter bias is so blatant…. Genuinely wondering when the UK refs and judges started to be so biased? The U.K. used to be very fair in that respect…

To be fair, he had a really powerful promoter behind him and, up until he parted the Red Sea, his opponents weren't all that.
