Not a bad post besides the rock headed assertion that Saad was in his prime when he lost to Qawi. Was he still in his prime when he got drubbed by Willie Edwards? Andrew maynard? When did the "myth" turn to reality?
I wouldn't have Saad in the top 20. I know you said Loughran could be in the top 10. But where is the reasoning that Qawi is even in his vicinity? I don't see it, not even close.
I have said before why I still consider Saad to be in his prime when he fought Qawi.
I don't think many fighters become washed up overnight; which is the impliaction that he was suddenly washed up when he fought Qawi. Never heard a word about him being past it before the fight.
By the time he fought Willie Edwards, he was past his best, though not completely shot. By the time he fought Andrew Maynard, he was just about completely shot.
I have given many reasons why i have high regard for Qawi. To sum it up, he had some impressive wins, was competitive with one of the very best, and had only one loss to any other fighter at 175, which I don't feel counts for much since it was a 6 round decision in only his 3rd fight. His positves far outweigh his negatives. Other greats had longer careers with more great wins, but usually had a few losses a long the way. As I have said before, there are several guys that are close and I have no problem with Loughran, Rosenbloom, and a few other guys rated higher. However, if Qawi was not at least close to them, he would not have beat Scott, rolled over Martin, whipped a great fighter like Saad twice and gave Spinks some trouble.
