I didn't give Simpson more than 2 rounds maybe he deserved 3. Despite the flash knockdown and the two point deductions I scored It pretty clear for Derry 115 - 110. Judges had It too wide though.

Simpson was tough and durable and yes It was dirty but I could see more punches land from Derry and he jolted Simpson's head when they were clean.

I thought Simpson was being outboxed still for the majority.

Itv didn't show were Paul Smith looked sloppy though.

They said he was better than mostly.

Great puncher though. :TU:

To be honest, I don't think Matthews was outboxing Simpson for most of the fight. Most of Mathews success came as a result of his constant infringments. Mathews would throw and then hold, stick in some rabbit punches, try and open the cut some more and then repeat. I actually don't think his boxing looked very good at all.

He can do better but I saw Simpson being outboxed by Derry's long arms although he did out jab Derry at times.

I think Derry was over confident though too he was getting too much hype regardless of this being a hometown show, but he does have world potential.

Well, he might have had an off night amidst all the pressure of his hometown so I will keep a close eye on his next fight but generally he doesn't look good enough to progress to a much higher level. And his dirty tactics, I found loathsome. It was definitely a bad night at the office for him despite the result.

Thank God for that. I thought I'd had to much to drink, and misheard Pass when it was announced. Two points off, and a knockdown, but still 118? It's either that the bloke can't add up, or doesn't know what he's doing. Shocking either way.

I thought the last scorecard was about right, with Derry winning but not by all that much. Lucky boy though, if it wasn't for the ever lenient Vann, he could easily have been docked more or just thrown out. His constant illegal worsening of Simpson's cut deserved much harsher punishment than it recieved, and the fact that Vann let him get away with rubbing his glove against it seconds after the point was deducted was a pretty poor showing. Not a great fight for the officials.
