What's happening with the WBU, anyway? Has it still not found a buyer? I can't remember the last time I heard of a WBU title fight.

Still for sale and a snip at £100,000...should be able to make that back off Khan sanctioning fees.

Lightweight is a stronger division than light welter. Maybe it's worth hanging around at lightweight, as Pac is leaving, Casa is aged, Marquez is marked up and old, etc.

However, there are young, strong, confident fighters coming up. Not only Prescott, but Peterson and Murray too. Lightweight could be dangerous.

I think there will be more opportunities at light welter. More openings. More vacant belts, probably. Less top fighters. Also, maybe more big British interest fights. If Khan can rebuild, wait til Hatton and Witter are totally past it, call them out...

You certainly can. I think it depends on who KOs you. Some of Prescotts opponents were not even journeymen, quite a few had not even won a fight. It was a bad loss. Had he been beaten by someone with a good record who had beaten top class fighters fair enough. Yes, Khan is young and he can be taught to feel his way into a fight instead of charging in as he does. He can be taught better defense also. At the elite level these things really matter but so does taking a punch, and he cant. He may rise to Euro level but I dont see him going further. Once Khan realises this I can see him packing it in. He is far too ambitious to settle for a Euro title.

Just because Prescott has only fought bums, doesn't mean that he is also a bum. He has world class power, faster than expected hands, looks durable and is huge for the weight.

There have been genuine world class fighters who have pretty much fought bums their entire career... Although, I think a schooled boxer who can take a lick or two would beat him.

Excellent point, that. I think he'd have a good chance. Khan still has elite class speed and accuracy, even if his chin is garbage. Against a relatively light puncher like Kotelnik he would have a decent chance.

are you serious ??? Kotelnik would destroy Khan, utterly destroy him!! Kotelnik might not be a "banger" in that sense, but he is a solid hitter with solid skills and experience, he would walk right through Khan and find him with shots again and again. He might take his time a bit more than Prescott but the result would be the same - Kahn Knocked out.

At first I would have tended to agree with you. But thinking again, Khan doesn't like Kotelnik's type of quick pressure opponents. Kotelnik is 2 classes above Khan. Kotelnik has a very good chin, speed, skill and stamina...he has decent power. If Kotelnik could stop Rees, no reason he couldn't stop Khan...Especially after Khan's KO loss, which means Khan will be even chinnier and have less confidence...Trust me, if Kotelnik fought Khan now, he would wipe the floor with him for 10 rounds before a late stoppage...

First; (I know this has been covered in another thread) I just can't believe how fickle the MEN crowd was regarding Khan. He gets a hero's reception and cheered to the rafters when he enters the ring. Then soon as he gets blown away the crowd start chanting "what a load of rubbish!" and boo him until he has left the arena.
If these fans felt genuinely short changed after 54 seconds, why did they spend the entire Arthur v Cook fight at the bar? They would have got 12 rounds of good action.

Second; after getting back home I watched the Sky Box Office broadcast and I couldn't believe how lame the pundits were in analysing the aftermath of the Khan fight. Glenn McCory was the worst; "It's not the end of the world, he made a simple mistake. He will go back to the drawing board and come back stronger for it". WTF? Why did no-one challenge this by saying Khan simply hasn't got the chin to compete at world class level and he will get exposed again if he faces anyone with decent punch power? Even a jab wobbled him, but only Ian Darke seem to pick up on that and how significant Khan's defeat was.

I actually thought Nicky Piper was quite honest in his appraisal and Nelson made the point that Prescott will always be there and could never see Khan beating him.

Also Jim Watt's assessment was pretty honest, making the point that he can't just avoid punchers when people (Glenn) were critising the choice of opponent and he asked the old question are they building a fighter or an unbeaten record.

Good chance Khan can comeback well from this but it will have to be back to square one as far as his style is concerned (which people have long suspected)
