I think Khan is a victim (if having a few nay-sayers bothers him that much which it probably doesn't) of his own success and also his popularity, after what was a very very rapid rise to fame.
Yes he was a tit in his car and I wasn't impressed, but I think he genuinely believes in his own ability and that he will one day be world champ. Of course it's disrespectful and pretty silly to be honest to be making comments about Pacman and whoever and in that respect he hasn't done his rep a lot of good with many fans. However, Khan has almost reached the top in the amateur game, then beat the guy who pipped him to the gold medal, so why is it such a crime for him to think he can repeat the trick as a pro.
There are Haters out there, not necessarily racist I don't know..I haven't met one in real life and I don't personally know most folk on this forum but I personally think he's come across every time I've seen him (I didn't see his Pacman comments) as a humble, down to earth, decent sort of a guy.
This ain't no bloody Audley Harrison, this kid has got balls and will stand and have a fight with you. I would be very interested to know how many Khan - haters stumped up to go and watch Harrison do bot all against Martin Rogan, Danny Williams 1 or whatever ...(although think they were on the same O2 bill so it's impossible to say).

I think in ten years time when people look back Amir Khan's career will have been a successful one, not some chinny never has- been like some people like to predict. And incidentally if Khan's comments are stupid what about John Murray's cos I for one very much doubt he would beat Khan at all, let alone knock him out in 2 rounds!!

What Khan does need to do though, win or lose versus Barrera, which I think will be a tough, although winnable fight, not necessarily saying I think he will do....is come back to British scene and answer one or two questions..beat John Murray, beat John Thaxton...I think he would do. If he tries to take on the world first he stands to get knocked out again probably, unless he fights the best over here first.

great post. I gohope Amir does well in the game he has a great offensive arsenal for one so young. Is good to watch and exciting.

The parallell to harrison ias an ecellent one, as i fora whiole followed Aud and thought he woudl make noises at some point, I gave up after the debacle at the 02 vs Williams which was an embarassment.

Khan at least will throw some leather.

I also wanted to see Audley do very well I followed him in lots of fights but he delivered less and less and kept promising to deliver the goods.

My abiding memory of Audley Harrison (well THAT knockdown against Williams apart....did it touch him or was he just glad to get out the way!!)....is sitting in front of the TV cameras after beating a 3 weeks notice or whatever Danny Williams and uttering the words..."This year World Champion....next year Undisputed!". That was enough for me.

precisely i gave up after draggin ten mates to the o2 for that drivel that was served up by both men to be fair.

i also stopped shouting for danny as he was just as bad, then again danny could turn up next fight and be in a slugfest depends which verion of danny was gonna show up.

yeah to be fair Mr Kipling's best customer didn't do much either, in fact that punch I mentioned was just about the only thing that happened.

I was just today thinking I might try and recruit a couple of my pals to come to MEN with me for the Khan fight I reckon the atmosphere alone will be electric..and there's a decent card brewing..Macca, Nicky Cook etc...probably be at least ten, twelve fights in total.

I empathise with your plight...if I'd have taken my non-boxing mad mates to see that I'd have felt like a tit.

thats sport for you though isnt it, I ve sat through dull games of rugby, dull days at the cricket boxing will be no different, on the upside we did see Khan box well, skelton spark big bad jon mc and ha da good after party round mine so wasnt all bad

In Khans case though he has often been seen to be a cocky little bugger and the driving incidents havent helped him to be popular either. Being from a Pakistani background he is probably more liked by the white British than the Indians.

I'm of Indian descent and tbh I'm yet to meet an Indian(who is Sikh or Hindu) who badmouths Khan. Heck even old Indian "aunties" get behind Khan. For those who don't know, a lot of Sikhs and Hindus are prejudice against Muslim Pakistanis(for the record I'm NOT! ). Okay he's isn't the sharpest tool in the box but he comes across well enough. I'd imagine he'd get a lot more stick from Indians if he went on a religious rant in post-fight victory ala Naseem Hamed. But as for some of his Muslim supporters, they are just typical of the many gangster-wannabe idiots roaming around Bolton that I'm so glad I got away from.

And LMAO at Mr.Kiplings best customer! But to be fair to 'ole Danny - Mr.Kipling does make exceedingly good cakes.
