There is some absolutely extraordinary comments coming out from Hearn now. I'm just can't make head nor tail of them.
""I believe he is innocent. But at the same time, you have to take responsibility, whether you are unlucky or not, that something has been found in your system," he said. "With what I know and believe, the purpose of the ban is more to suppress the public feeling and media around this situation.
"I don't think the public will be happy if he can't nail a specific contamination issue or whatever it is. The feeling will be 'he has got off it'. At the same time, I don't think he should face a lengthy ban. I don't believe he has cheated, I don't believe he has taken a performance-enhancing drug for the benefit of physical performance - that's how I feel. I don't feel he should have his career ultimately punished. That is based on the scientific evidence but also my belief in him as a character.
"He's a God-fearing man and he had it in him to say he had to be honest in this situation and find out what happened, rather than 'yeah, this happened, give me three months'."
So he believes Conor is innocent. But Conor has to pay the price. But it shouldn't be a lengthy ban. Hearn believes there is scientific evidence, however he notes that he doesn't know the specifics of that. He also rattles on about Benn breaking his contract with Matchroom.
Can someone make sense of any of that?

How does a urine sample become contaminated with a banned substance ? Perhaps Eddie and Conor would like to answer that as it doesn't happen by magic

When exactly should someone face a ban for a positive PED test then? According to Eddie, they are apparently innocent until proven guilty, despite not providing a shred of evidence to prove it

Absolute disgrace. Ban him for life.
Gets caught then uses every technicality to avoid punishment. His reputation is in the gutter and quite right too.
By clearing his name he means contest every rule in the book until a loophole is found that allows compromise rather than punishment.

I guess either deliberately sabotaged or cross contamination. The B sample should rule out cross contamination, as I understand it they are tested in different labs. Sabotaged is unlikely without proof otherwise surely anyone who has failed any drug or alcohol test could argue that.

Robert Smith just been on talkSPORT, basically saying absolutely nothing… ‘it’s with the lawyers’.
He did say he couldn’t confirm if Benn could actually be banned or sanctioned now as he wasn’t a licence holder.

What's the point in anyone coming on talk shows or interviews. They don't say shit!
Just there to rack up views..

Who was the lawyer the celebs all used to get off when they were caught drink driving? I can see this going the same way, they will find a minor procedural mistake and it will be squashed.

I was discussing the Connor Benn saga whose views are quite strong, similar to some people on here.
I found myself getting quite annoyed.
I asked the person “do you not want Connor to be proven innocent “?
The conversation set me thinking.
I really hope Connor is innocent. For his families legacy and all the people around him. And of course BOXING
From the snipits that have come out in the last few weeks I have an opinion as to Benns innocence.
Benn has a lot of good people around him and if he cant prove his innocence then the sh*t is going to hit the fan, which is not only going to affect Benn.
As said already although this case has gone on for a few weeks only snipits of information has come out and it is my opinion Benn is going to find it very difficult.
Also as stated theres more twists to come.
Are you serious? He's tested positive for a PED that can't get in your system unless you specifically take it. The only way he's innocent is if the B Sample is tested at another lab to show there is no contamination. If the B Sample tests the same he's guilty, if it's clean he's clean. And despite this he doesn't want the B Sample testing. He's as guilty as sin. It's proven 100%

So Conor Benn 'voluntarily relinquished' his boxing licence after the British Boxing Board of Control hearing.
I wonder whether the BBBofC or his legal representatives recommended he do this to avoid punishment?
Because surely the BBBofC cannot strip a licence nor impose punishments on fighters that aren't within the scope of their jurisdiction? He's no longer a BBBofC fighter.
Anyway, I kind of predicted something like this would happen, when I posted the following opinion two weeks ago:
Enlightened-One wrote: ↑14 Oct 2022, 05:19But I reckon Benn might escape punishment, or perhaps only receive a very minor slap on the wrists, since VADA has no jurisdiction in the UK.
A bit like when the NYSAC couldn’t punish Jarrell Miller when he first failed a PED test, because of a technicality, since they couldn’t ban him, due to him not having a boxing license (so he was outside the realms of their jurisdiction).
I hate being kind of right, because if Benn did cheat... and let's face it, all the evidence suggests he has, then he should be punished and banned.
I would have preferred to have been wrong than see a drug cheat avoid or minimise punishment due to a technicality.

Blimey I hadn’t seen this. People can believe what they like, doesn’t make it true. He’s his promoter and friend so I guess he can’t say anything else publicly. All smoke and mirrors.
