Re: Conor Benn - What Next?
I don’t really think the BBBC need to say anything. Benn doesn’t have a license and they’re not the people who made the decision.
All they can say really is that Benn isn’t banned by UKAD and it free to apply for a license. Whether they make that process a simple one or try and fine him in some way is a different story.
The only people I’m interested in hearing something from is UKAD and hopefully they’ll release a statement.
Re: Conor Benn - What Next?
boxing fans need to vote with their feet here and not watch him/buy his PPVs/go to his fights.
we may as well do away with drug testing now cos its pointless.

Re: Conor Benn - What Next?
Wording is key.
Out of the entire statement there's one relevant word, "vindicated".
He doesn't say cleared, there's a lot that isn't said.
The rest is filler designed to draw us to a conclusion. Clever job of wording.
He must be free to now resume his career in the UK, and that along with "vindicated" looks, sounds and feels like he was found innocent... yet it doesn't say that.
We've got half a story dressed up to lead the headlines and sway public opinion. The omission of detail about what ukad have actually determined is curious.

Statements released by UK Anti-Doping regarding Conor Benn
Last updated: 28 July 2023, 17:35 BST
28 July 2023
A UKAD spokesperson, said:
“In April 2023 UK Anti-Doping (UKAD) took the exceptional step of publicly disclosing details of Mr Conor Benn’s provisional suspension and charge following reports from the media and comments made by Mr Benn himself. UKAD’s statement also confirmed that the case would follow the Results Management process in accordance with the UK Anti-Doping Rules.
“UKAD notes that Mr Benn has made further public comments today regarding proceedings before the independent National Anti-Doping Panel. UKAD can confirm Mr Benn is no longer provisionally suspended under the UK Anti-Doping Rules.
“The UK Anti-Doping Rules detail limited circumstances in which UKAD is able to make public disclosures about ongoing cases. They also set out a clear process within which cases can be heard and decisions can be handed down by the independent National Anti-Doping Panel. Where case decisions are handed down by a panel, the Rules provide all relevant parties with a right of appeal. Under the Rules, UKAD has 21 days from the date of receipt of a decision to file any appeal. UKAD carefully reviews all decisions in its cases before deciding whether to exercise its right of appeal.
“UKAD is not able to make any further public disclosures in accordance with the UK Anti-Doping Rules at this time.”

Re: Conor Benn - What Next?
i read a post from one of these online boxing tweeter journo types that said
Evidence of innocence in September 2022- 0
Evidence of innocence in July 2023- 0
Am I missing something other than “I’m now vindicated but you don’t know why”???

Re: Conor Benn - What Next?
Hopefully UKAD will appeal, although of course Hearn and Co are writing it up like it’s all over now.
Re: Conor Benn - What Next?
Maybe board won't give him a licence during legal dispute (if hes going to sue)
Re: Conor Benn - What Next?
This very much looks like Benn has either appealed on a technicality or has threatened to sue based on a technicality. The man is still guilty as sin.

All they will carefully review is if they have the funds or not to take on someone with deep pockets.Rockytony67 wrote: ↑28 Jul 2023, 13:05 Statements released by UK Anti-Doping regarding Conor Benn

Re: Conor Benn - What Next?
Do they need to prove something to us? Surely they’d have given all of their evidence to the authorities to make their decision. Hopefully we find out why he’s, currently at least, no longer facing doping charges.

Re: Conor Benn - What Next?
Michael Watson successfully sued the bbboc that was a president if you have the right brief and push forward with your beliefs.
If you have more money that who you are suing you have a better than average cause of success.
As we all know doping is wide spread in sport, get used to it.

Re: Conor Benn - What Next?
Benn is either thick as sh1t or a compulsive liar. I genuinely dont know which.
Re: Conor Benn - What Next?
The WBC will now put Conor back in the rankings but he will go in at number 1. He's beat everyone to get to the highest ranking and all those who thought Benn was a drug cheat shame on you!
Re: Conor Benn - What Next?
Based on the fact he’s tested positive twice and there still hasn’t been a coherent explanation as to how/why, just a load of rhubarb (including the ‘new team’ blokes that got an easy ride from on tawksport’s fashionable attack dog Jordan) I’d say the majority of level headed boxing fans still think he’s a drug cheat. There won’t be any shame on them for thinking so either.
What happened to that ‘fertility’ doctor, who happens to know all about that gear? He was doing the rounds with a few boxers?
Re: Conor Benn - What Next?
Mmmm , British boxing at its absolute best , Only thing has far has i'm concerned i'd like to see happen now , is Benn reinstated ,
CROWDS STAY AWAY IN DROVES AND REFUSE TO BUY HIS PPV'S , BASED ON THE FACT THEY WILL SAY HE NEEDS A TUNE UP OR 10 , after they find the old guy who is 10 years past it the sales are that bad they relize they have to fight an even fight ,
In desperation to get his money back , Hearn lines him up with a mega fight , against Boots .
With or without the help of the juice , Boots absolutly gives him the worst belting ever seen and destroys him forever , , Boots then chins his father in the ring after and dances above the two of them laid spark out .
Iknow I know its dreamtime but you an dream can't you

Re: Conor Benn - What Next?
The important thing to remember here is UKAD aren’t allowed to disclose stuff, and UKAD basically can’t hand down a guilty verdict if there’s potential bankrupting legal consequences…
So basically every uk fighter that’s has a few months out of the ring at any point could have had positive tests and ongoing doping issues, but just get out of them.
Only reason we found out about this was a leak, only reason we found out about Whyte vs Rivas was a leak….
There is one simple solution. Every drug test, type of test, what was tested for, amounts found, ect be posted on a publicly viewable database…

Re: Conor Benn - What Next?
Nothing from the BBBofC yet, is there?
Re: Conor Benn - What Next?
The British Boxing Board of Control (BBBoC), which licenses fighters in the UK, said it was "aware" of Benn's statement.
General secretary Robert Smith said the organisation would "provide a further statement if and when able to do so", and directed enquiries to Ukad.
