I mean, isn't that pretty much what he's done?

What fvcking base?

The base is common sense against a loony radical 'progressive' leftward drift that rode/rides off the back of tolerance whilst being illiberal at the same time. That is some achievement.

MAGA influencers Tucker Carlson, Candace Owens, Megyn Kelly, Alex Jones and Marjorie Taylor Greene have all completely turned against Trump because his actions have been the opposite of his preelection promises. YouTubers and performers like Joe Rogan, Theo Von, Andrew Schulz, Shane Gillis and Jaké Paul, the same. Between them and others in a similar position, they have tens of millions of weekly views from a diverse viewership. So Trump's "base" now solely consists of Israel First types like Ted Cruz and Ben Shapiro, plus those that will spin everything that happens into some kind of dishonest victory for Republicans.

He's really fucked up on this one.

I do think all of this makes an excellent case for energy independence and renewables in particular.

Whilst Trump is playing king knut, and trying to nix green energy projects, china is building out solar, wind, tidal and other sources at an astonishing rate, as well as the infraatructure to store and trabsport energy as electricity.

I just checked and didnt realise china is already the biggest energy producer, having already overtaken the US

With the vast investment, they are going to rapidly pull ahead

I think you're right.

Once again, Britain has been horribly short sighted. Energy has been all about profit rather than trying to develop a proper energy strategy. I agree about solar, wind and tidal. We have great potential for that, especially the last two. In my view, every house, every public building, ever business should have its own turbine as well as the industrial size stuff in the sea and on land.

I also think fossil fuels have a place though as part of a mixed energy strategy, which should include North Sea oil and coal. Sorry to be boring, but we should still have 15-20 productive collieries in this country. People say coal is dirty but clean burn technology has been available since the 1980s. Government just refused to invest in it.

Problem is, you say this and people say 'ooh, that would all take a long time and a lot of investment'. Yes, but what's the other option, do nothing, continue going from crisis to crisis, and watch prices continue to rocket?

Governments in the west, have i fear, been trapped in cyclical short term thinking. Everybody is terrified to of the implications of spending and then losing the election.

Energy infrasteucture is way more important than a stupid rail project that cuts 20 minutes off a journey time. The project is 20 years too late, modern work doesnt require ever greater numbers of people between london and birminhgam.

They seem determined to continue to invest in what got them rich in the 1900's and can't seem to wake up to the fact that it's a new century, and maybe what worked before won't work now.

Iran has learned what’s now finally dawning on Americans, including even some Republicans in Congress: Trump’s will never matches his bluster, and his attempts at intimidation are merely the hallmarks of a weak, insecure, and overcompensating coward.

Honestly as soon as I heard that I thought to myself "JD Vance is probably afraid he's gonna get killed in Pakistan" I know I would've been if I were him. I probably wouldn't even have went honestly, I would've just said I did.

Taking 2 years to make a deal is just LOSING

I expect Trump to make over 100 deals, and not just any deals, but amazing fantastic deals, within the next 2 years

Drop some more bombs and claim it's a win or jog on home with their tails between their legs and claim it's a win i guess?

Trump is the king of bluster not of the deal. He’s shown that again and again over the years and he still got elected.

A classic example of what happens when you have a leader with no patience, no knowledge or desire to learn, and who selects staff based on fealty.

Diplomacy is a skill, and requires both experience, and the right mindset and set of aptitudes.

The US also has two senior advisers in witkoff and kushner who have their own agenda, and are not acting in the best interests of the US.

The idea that vance, as charmless a man as ive seen in a senior political position. The idea he has the chops and the patience to craft a deal with Israel, after decades of emnity, is a risible fantasy.
