I favor Wonderboy in this one. Tyrone is super explosive. But, I believe Thompson should be able to keep a good distance from Woodley and pick him off as he comes in. Should be interesting.

Wasn't he 57 and 0 in pro kickboxing? A fair few saying he's the best striker in the UFC. Was really interesting watching Dan Hardy's break down of the fight, he's a special talent.

Favorite Challenger Weightclass
Conor McGregor, -150 Eddie Alvarez (c), +120 Lightweight title
Joanna Jedrzejczyk (c), -400 Karolina Kowalkiewicz, +300 Women's strawweight title
Stephen Thompson, -200 Tyron Woodley (c), +160 Welterweight title
Donald Cerrone, -160 Kelvin Gastelum, +130 Welterweight
Chris Weidman, -185 Yoel Romero, +150 Middleweight
Miesha Tate, -185 Raquel Pennington, +150 Women's bantamweight

Three championship fights, two of them have the champion as the underdog.

I wouldn't be shocked if any of the underdogs walked away with the W.

My Picks:

Pennington by UD
Weidman by UD
Gastelum by SD
Thompson by late KO (will be cheering for Woodley though...love to see T-Wood vs. GSP in the future)
Joanna Champion by UD
Alvarez by late KO

I'm not sure of his record, but I always hear how great a kickboxer he was. Now that he has been working on his wrestling with Weidman, he's turned into an incredible martial artist. Gotta give it to Matt Brown. I haven't seen the fight, but Matt is primarily a striking guy, and for him to beat such a decorated kickboxer such as Thompson, it deserves some props. Doubt it would happen again though.

So, bisping v Romero apparently.
Anyone give bisping a chance. Romero has suspect cardio so Michael could potentially outwork him, but man, even at 39 Romero can just explode at any time

You can't give Bisping no chance due to his great cardio and Romeros suspect fuel tank. But Romero is a better striker and a much much much much much much better grappler. Sure Weidman got him down last night but when he decided to wrestle it was one sided and Weidman is a phenomenal MMA wrestler. Bisping had trouble with old man Hendo and IMO Romero is better than Hendo ever was.

Yoel has been taken down before but I think it's due to an unwavering confidence in his scramble to get immediately back up not that Bisping would contemplate shooting. Chael was able to hold him down for 3 rounds, sure it was a while ago but once again Romero is a level above Chael.

Last night was the first time I sat and watched a UFC card beginning to end, live, preliminaries and all. I've checked out some fights in the past, bought some DVD's etc and have some knowledge about it, even briefly trained MMA, but never really watched UFC with major interest. With boxing being absolute dogshit at the moment

As a casual fan I found it really enjoyable. None of the fights were boring. I thought there was some great exciting moments. I don't really know who most people are and so it's hard to have people to root for and so there isn't the same emotional investment that there is in boxing, but I can see myself getting into it over time.

It was good. I'm down.

The production quality is really good aswell huh compared to boxing? Their marketing/branding is on a different level.

One of the coolest ankle picks I've ever seen from Yoel Romero. Just a beast.

To continue our conversation from the other thread hear are major factors why I believe it would be bad business to cave to McGregors demands.

Welcome friend! As you continue to follow the UFC, you will notice how the best consistently fight the best. It's a beautiful beautiful thing.

Yes Bisping destruction of the world number 15, 46 year old semi retired contender in Hendo was something to behold. Ohh wait.

I'm hoping the results of the last couple of weeks give us:

Woodley vs. Maia
Thompson vs. Lawler
McGregor vs. Ferguson
Khabib vs. Alvarez
Bisping vs. Romero
Edgar vs. Lamas

Matches to make for me

Woodley vs Thompson rematch - get it done quickly have Maia fight the winner. Lawler the loser.
McGregor vs Khabib - the UFC fucked Khabib over by using a contract sent to him to force McGregor to sign for 205. He's undefeated and barely if at all lost a round.
Ferguson to get the next shot whether he fights or not
Alvarez vs RDA rematch
Bisping vs Romero - Jacare to get next shot no matter what happens.
Aldo vs Halloway/Pettis winner for ful championship - McGgregor isn't going back to FW, he looked massive next to Alvarez.

I wouldn't mind Woodley/Thompson II and Lawler/Maia.

I know Khabib may be more dangerous but Ferguson is on the bigger hot streak now and I just think he deserves the McGregor fight more. Although McGregor and Ferguson are both total knobs, so I'd be left with nobody to root for. Khabib is at least somewhat likeable.

RDA vs. Barboza would be a good fight to make now, too.

I hope they can work out their problems with Aldo and set up the Halloway/Pettis fight as well.

Dunno what they can do with Jacare. If he waits for the Bisping/Romero winner, he'll be on the shelf for over a year. Maybe they can reschedule the Rockhold fight, or maybe he can fight Uriah Hall if he beats Mousasi again. Or they could do Jacare vs. Anderson Silva, which would probably do big business even though Jacare would be a big favorite.

McGregor's counter left is world class boxing caliber. I expect khabib/Ferguson, McGregor/Diaz 3.

So you think Diaz deserves a shot over 2 guys on 7+ fight win streaks?

I'd expect him to get stripped at 145 if that goes down.

Khabib has a better chance of winning, but I think Ferguson deserves it more. Khabib just had his first significant fight in 2 and a half years. It's not so crazy to make him rebuild a bit before a title shot.

McGregor should be forced to drop the FW belt. Hell, he should already have been forced to a long time ago, when he decided to rematch Diaz instead of going back down to FW to defend against Edgar.
