Cooper wins a hard fought decision
Buchanan take Pac to the brink of a KO, but can't quite finish him. Buchanan UD.
Bronson from Hard Times takes Van Cleef from TG, B, and U anyday.
Ray Mercer and Ken Norton butt heads, primes for both....

Norton too smooth, agile and fast for Mercer, who lands his fair share of big punches, but Kenny is too busy, working harder with jabs and combos before tieing up Mercer on the inside, showing that he's one of the best ever
Mercer hitsbNorton hard, Norton flurries back every time, before winning a TKO around the 8th in a hellacious fight
Gatti vs Duran
Ken Norton vs Wlad Klitschko

Duran has to much for Gatti mid KO to much power 5th round KO
Wlad keeps Norton at range and wins a close UD decision but has to get of the floor
Duran vs B.Leonard LW
Vitali Klitschko vs Muhammed Ali
Re: Hypothetical Match-Up Game

by Costa Rico
Duran, after taking a battering early on, grinds his man down from the inside, showing some rough moves and good body punching, to score a 11 round KO
Muhammad is the smaller man, so he fights from the outside at first, darting in and out, scoring combos and dancing away
He drifts off during the middle rounds and takes some flak from Vitali, before getting inside, showing a warriors heart, and punching non-stop to take a UD
Floyd Patterson vs John Ruiz
Jake La Motta vs Kelly Pavlik
Re: Hypothetical Match-Up Game

Patterson wins wide UD decision Ruiz cant cope with Patterson
LaMotta loses the early rounds until around the 9th when Pavlik gets disheartend by the fact he cant hurt him and is knackered loses by 11th round KO to LaMotta
Mayweather JR vs Emile Griffith 15 rounds WW
Johnny Nelson vs David Haye CW 12 rounds
Re: Hypothetical Match-Up Game

by Costa Rico
Mayweather, despite being troubled early on by Griffiths agressive style and strong physique, starts to find his range with counters and cute moves on the inside, even hurting Griffith, and by the 6th, taking control, but slipping a little as Griffith's aggresiveness gets to him, for a PBF SD
Nelson is too comfortable at the weight and also slick and mobile, while Haye, tight at the weight, takes a while to warm up
Nelson gets decked but gets up to school young Haye with jabs and slick left hooks before outboxing Haye, who is exposed defensively
Hasim Rachman (prime) vs Sonny Liston 15 rounds
Bob Foster vs David Tua 15 rounds heavyweight

Rahman cant get away from Listons jab Liston schools him until he retires on his stool at the end of the 9th
David Tua's power's to much for Foster who gets hit clean early and never recovers KO 3rd
Nigel Benn vs Arthur Abraham 12 rounds MW
Steve Collins vs Kelly Pavlik 12 rounds SMW

I think your missing something out fo your first answer and wrong with your second, thoguh thats your opinion
I think, for the first 4 rounds, Rachman being quicker on his feet, and his own excellent jab cutting Liston, the way Ali did
I imagine his 1-2 landing once or twice before Liston establishes himself and takes control, then wins by KO around the 9th
What I disagree with, is I imagine Foster beating Tua in the speed, defence, agility, jab, and accuracy departments- Tua is no Joe Frazier, so I can see Foster giving him a lesson, Calzaghe-Lacy style
Benn starts fast, Abrahams blocks for a while but Benn punishes how Abraham starts slow, and takes him out in the 4th after a sustained beating
I see Collins getting in Pavliks face, bobbing,l weaving, slipping punches as Kelly can't get a rythme going, and a right hook, or left hook, taking a bloodied Kelly out in the 7th
Ruslan Chagaev-Joe Louis 15 Rounds
Marco Antonio Barrera vs Julio Cesar Chavez super featherweight 15 rounds

Louis dismantles Chagaev like a piece of Ikea furniture. Louis TKO4.
Barrera wins a UD at 126, whole different ballgame at 130.
Big John Tate, fresh off his win over Coetzee, take on a still much hyped Michael Grant, yet to face Lewis.

Good match up TF.
Tate floors Grant early, Grat gets to his feet and does all
he can to hold on and recover.
Grant manages to get back into the fight and rallies well
his conditioning and size helps. It goes close in the late
rounds but Tate see's his hands raised high.
Gerrie Coetzee (1979) vs Evander Holyfield (1999) 12 rounds.

by Goodnight, Irene
This Holyfield was having life-&-death with John Ruiz. His reflexes were largely gone, & he drops a narrow decision to a fighter he once would've handily outclassed. Coetzee a touch too busy for the old warrior in the end.
12 Rounds at Jr. Middle. Julio Cesar Vasquez vs. Vernon Forrest...

Forrest starts as a sniper, for the 1st 3rds, until Vasquez pressure and dontgiveafuckessness makes him overtake Forrest in the 4th. Vasquez TKO 4.
MTL based match up: Davey Hilton jr in 1986 vs Joachim Alcine 2006 at 154.

Davey Hilton didn t fight in 1986, so the guess isn t possible
I m guessing Acline is too inexperienced himself and Davie just a bit too strong
Kevin Johnson vs Gerrie Coetzee
Ezzard Charles vs Lennox Lewis

He fought in 1985 and did not vanish from Earth in 1986. He just partied with the money made from the local macthups he won against Cusson. Are you telling me you could not guess how SRL or PBF would look like as fighters during the periods where they are semi-retired?
How is Joachim too inexperienced in 2006, when he became world champ in July 07?

Guess I asked too much.

Coetzee beats Johnson in an almost unwatchable affair by UD.
Lennox is just far too big and strong for Charles, and combined with enough skill, leads him to a comfortable decision.
Big George unexpectedly retires just before his comeback title shot...

I think the Rahman that flattened Lennox was better than the Moorer who squeaked out a questionable split decision over Holyfield.
I'll take Rahman by stoppage within 8.
Next up: Bob Fitzsimmons vs. Stanley Ketchel
Re: Hypothetical Match-Up Game

by Costa Rico
Fitz starts well behind a jab, looking calm when Ketchel comes windmilling forward
But, by the 10th, Stan has sharpened up, and keeps nailing Fitz with big shots
By the 15th, Stans tenacity and aggression are too much, and a bloodied Fitz is forced to retire in an upset

moorer stops rachman around the 7th both fighters go down in this fight and rachman calls for a rematch
toney trash talks moore who then decideds to take toney to school the fight is stopped around the 14th round with toney unable to trash talk anymore, three days later though claims he was winning and the ref and doctor were wrong to stop the fight.
michael spinks vs ezzard charles over 15 rounds
Re: Hypothetical Match-Up Game
Posted: 26 May 2009, 08:16
by Costa Rico
Ezzard, as crafty and slick as they come, delivers a masterclass early on a la Cotto-Margarito, Spinks just can't get anything going, while Ezzard lands blistering combo's and counters in a career-best display
Spinks awkward style and size, however, cause Ezzard problems through rounds 6-10, before Ezzard gets his jab going, and can't miss with it, Toney-Peter II style
Spinks gives it one last go, swinging wild hooks, but his swollen, bruised face tells the story as Ezzard embarasses him, knocking him down and winning a wide UD
Ezzard Charles-Bob Foster 15 rounds
Jersey Joe Walcott-George Foreman 15 rounds
Re: Hypothetical Match-Up Game
Posted: 26 May 2009, 10:21

Charles recovers from an early knockdown to retire a beleaguered Foster on his stool through twelve rounds.
Foreman would have flattened Walcott at some point --- probably sooner, rather than later.
12 Rounds At Heavyweight. Jimmy Young (1977) & Billy Conn (1941)...
Re: Hypothetical Match-Up Game
Posted: 26 May 2009, 17:11
by Costa Rico
Con has everythng, punch, skill, speed, and footwork
He starts like a whirldwind, nearly taking Young's head off and dominating him
The crafty, slick young, however, settles into a rythme, and uses his extra weight to beat Conn inside, and he also dominates with his long, fast, pump-action jab, taking a UD in a big upset
Jimmy Young vs Muhammad Ali II
Mike Tyson (2004) vs Cliff Couser (the night he KO'd Monte Barrett)
And could someone answer me this question- could a 2004 version of Tyson beat todays Barrett?
Re: Hypothetical Match-Up Game
Posted: 26 May 2009, 20:53
by Robinson
Tyson manages to land a solid and nasty KO punch
to deliver him a reprieve after looking less than superb
after 3 rounds. Tyson is strong in round one, but lacks
movement in the second. An incoming Couser is dropped
by a left hook that is thrown wide, but manages to
and.
Ali looks sluggish at times and rejuvinated at others.
He is more game than in the first but his punches really
lack pop and commitment, Young does his best to counter
Ali and stalk him down. Everyone ringside see's Young
ahead....
The winner and still heavyweight champion of the
world...Muhammad Ali.....

Riddick Bowe (1992) vs Jersey Joe Walcott (1947) 15 rounds.
and
Joe Louis (1947) Vs Hasim Rahman (2001) 15 rounds.
Re: Hypothetical Match-Up Game

by Goodnight, Irene
Bowe can't finish after having Walcott down in the first, but gets to him with a barrage of fight-ending blows around the seventh. Walcott had to pull out all the stops in the opening stanza, taking the count of nine & holding for life. The Jersey trickster made a fight of things in round five, when he outslicked Bowe for two minutes thirty seconds, before wobbling the giant with his patented left hook. In the end, though, Bowe's size & body-punching told the tale.
Louis is down for a two-count in the second round, & again for three in the fourth. Rahman hit the deck heavy in the sixth, but he hasn't the survival instincts of his ageing opponent, & couldn't get out of the way of a follow-up assault which pressed him into the ropes, unable to fire back. He protests the stoppage bitterly.
One which may happen...140lb. battle between Ricky "Hitman" Hatton & Michael "The Great" Katsidis, right now...
