Spinks easily beats Floyd Patterson... not even Spinks would believe that. Terrible hyperbole.
I think I can say with some confidence that few people would rank Spinks as a Heavyweight higher than Patterson as a Heavyweight. And I think I can say that most would rank a fifth round KO over Moore over a UD over Muhammad or Qawi. I could be wrong, of course, but that is how it seems to me.
Still waiting for BRR to explain his comment about Carl Williams being a KO artist, still waiting to hear him tell us where the rule is that says that a fighter who is counted out can be given a chance to get up and adjust, and still waiting for his apology for his insults to me for my having rightly said that Spinks had an official knockdown at 175. Classless poster.

How many times did Burns defend against the same guy ???

You can criticise Patterson and Holmes and their defences
but imagine if they had the same 'challenger' defence in and
defence out to help pad their record.

You're wasting your time with mr cock rot.

Go and watch that youtube of Witherspoon - Smith (2) and give me your thoughts.

I think it ties in nicely with the comments you made about boxers, like other workers, having off days.

You never answered me in another thread. Done this kind of thing before? Has anyone taken you up on it?

Lard Arse, you are the one who keeps asking me about it.

Like I said, Irene, I'm in Sydney you are in Sydney. I think you are a pudendum, you think I'm a pudendum. Let's meet up and you can tell me what a pudendum I am to my face.

If not, stop whining about it like a gutless bitch.

Btw --- I don't think you're a pudendum. I think you're a fellow who, in addition to finding himself a lot funnier than many of us do (you're the bloke laughing at his own jokes while others smile uncomfortably at parties, aren't you :DD ) takes the forum extremely seriously.

There are bigger things in life, Collins. I work in a profession where I'm routinely threatened & occasionally must fight. Almost everyone is a talker & a BSer, & will back out if given a way to do so without losing face. I know hyperbole only too well when I see it. You don't frighten, mate --- as someone who hears it all the time, you bore. I hope you find someone or something to fill the void.

- Thanks for reinforcing my point...........Burns, Paterson, Holmes, mostly weak defenses although Holmes a grade above those two as a heavy champ.

- Still waiting on mummy to clean your potty mouth up, eh.

Williams had a 75% KO ratio going into Holmes and was undefeated.....Duh #1

Moore was counted out on his feet with 30 sec left in the round and left to walk to his corner by himself cursing the besotted ref....Duh #2.

Waiting on the video........DUH #3 and certified clear and free of any frontal lobe you are.

That win by Smith was damned impressive. Witherspoon as we all
know had so much going on, but regardless of that Smith was just
so strong and decimated him.

I feel sorry for poor Tim when I see that.

I wonder what Tyson and his camp were thinking at that time after
seeing that.

BRR

Patterson is one of my favourites, but I do agree that his hand picked
title challengers were some what...well. They could have been better.
Patterson certainly fought better men after he lost the belt.

Holmes...I shall not defend any more. As you do not appreciate his greatness
as I clearly do.

Duh? Williams was 16-0 going into the Holmes fight, fighting tomato cans in nearly every fight... his best win before Holmes was Tillis, a UD... Clay had a pretty high KO rating going into the Liston fight, this doesn't make Ali a knock out artist... and Ali had much better knockout wins than Williams career for career... :-?
You must be a big Alex Stewart fan.

Moore was on a knee and failed to beat the count. When you reach the count of ten, you don't get a second chance. Those are the rules... incredibly. I haven't heard this one since Lennox Lewis after the first Rahman fight.

Classless as usual in not acknowledging that you were wrong on the Spinks knockdown. Pure troll.

Robinson... Patterson's title reigns are BRR's red herring. He acknowledged himself in the other thread when he was free to that the majority of Patterson's most respectable performances came after his title reigns, he just knows not to say it here.
After his Liston losses he remade himself from scratch and actually started to learn the craft and the art of boxing. He became a more complete fighter who compiled an excellent post title record against the cream of the top 10
-BRR in a rarely lucid, unbiased state, which he has not had in this thread.

It cost Tim a huge HBO payday in a unification fight with Tyson.

Nah, she's crossed the line now sending me abusive PMs.

I have forgotten she even exists.

We don't need that fat bitch. What does she add to any discussion?

Let's talk about the 80's HBO unification series.

I would have loved to have seen Witherpsoon vs Tyson,
but you can not fault the Smith win.

Tyson had an exciting, talent filled field ahead of him at
that time.

It would be nice if we had another massive unification
series these days.

Say Tyson did not lose to Buster, say Buster stayed down
after being floored....

Tyson would of had an interesting field of contenders ahead
of him..
Holyfield no doubt would have been next...
McCall, Foreman, Holmes, Lewis, Ruddock, Witherspoon,
Mercer, Morrison, Bowe, Moorer, etc

He would of had a massive task to stay sharp enough to
have tackled that field. EVEN if his home life was clean and
he stayed focus....even IF he was surrounded by those that
protected and supported him. Those sort of opponents, that
field of firepower wears a man down. One would eventually
catch him.

Would have been interesting.
