I'm gonna go for Williams. Just for fun. Prizefighter is very unpredictable.

Audley: "I had a devastating knockout loss to Michael Sprott in 2007 and hopefully I will get a chance to rectify that loss and also had two fights with Danny Williams.

"I beat him last time and it doesn't matter if Danny trains for six hours, six days or six months, what happened last time will happen again"

"If my arm is not raised I would really question myself. It's like the Michael Jackson song 'Man in the Mirror', I've looked at myself and the answer coming back has been 'yes, you can."

Williams looks a lot slimmer there or is it the black T shirt.... :TU:

PS Man in the Mirror? If I had to link Auds with a Jacko song it would be 'Beat It'...

Audley will be found out. Unless they get drawn at the first stage you can forget about a Williams v Harrison III - Audley will no doubt try to box 'amateur' style to score points and get him through, but some of the other guys are true pro's that can bang. Maybe Audley will prove me wrong by preserving energy and winning the whole thing on points - but how boring would that be?

I hope this is remembered for good boxing and exciting action - something you don't get with big Aud - sorry

My heart says Danny to win, my head thinks there will be an upset.....we shall see......

It will be intresting there are a few prospects in there as well who might be able to cause an upset but I think the 3 experienced boys Sprott, Williams and Harrison will all make the semi's I see Williams outsmarting and outboxing everyone but you never know

None of the old dogs in this line up are known as fast starters & if one or two of the young guns can get away to a fast start there might just be a few upsets, they can't be apprehensive by past records it's an on the night thing

Part of the attraction of Prizefighter is that it is quite hard to predict, but this is the first time that if the top guys(Sprott, Williams and yes, Audley) come in to this in good shape and find a bit of form, they will be way above the rest.

Still, the three that are clearly above the rest are hardly known for their consistency!

Looking forward to it even though I think we could see a few mismatches.

Prizefighter update

Post by funso banjo baby »

so apparently its being seeded for the first time?

i like this...good idea

so what do we make of the underdogs

danny hughes has a fairly uninteresting record

coleman barratt...no idea who or why ?

belshaw is a waste of space

Holden...poss dark horse...a wealth of experience..surely most think a pumped up holden could take harrison...the likes of Holden and potter were totally avoided by audley at the start of his career.

any news on stand ins ?

At the time Audley made his infamous "British champ in five fights" comment, Holden was the champ. A good, honest pro but one of the lesser British champs. He was just 7-4 when he challenged a Julius Francis who took him lightly when coming down from the big stage of the Tyson fight just two months prior. Audley later qualified his statement by saying he meant he could beat the British champ in terms of skill but admitted he couldn't do 12 rounds at that stage. I agree, Audley in 2001-2, even as a novice, would have stood Holden on his head over six rounds, and there's no reason to think he wouldn't do the same to a Holden, who's now 41 and has been out six years, over three rounds.

Even Williams is allowed one fast start in a 49 fight career punctuated by slow boring wrestling matches, I'm sorry this line up does not excite me one bit but I'll be there just because it's at York Hall
