Last I heard Tarver was a fat 42 year old heavyweight Green has no interest in, as of this week.

With any luck it will be a black american whose surname is not Tarver, and he holds a recognised belt.
I hadnt heard of any announcement today. Ben had you heard anything about a press conference etc.

I dont mind the fight regardless of the knockers it will receive. Tarver is big, a south paw and can box. he doesnt appear to be punch drunk and as he said during his press conf I think 200lb will be a very good weight for him.
A hard task for Green in my opinion.....looks like another trip to the east coast coming up !!

This has got me completely fukked. Who has the 42 year old Tarver beaten recently to earn this alleged title fight? He's never even fought as a cruiserweight

Ay yay yay

bit of a let down really. I thought green said he wasnt interested in tarver? Seriously, the guy hasnt won a major fight in years, he's semi retired and does more work as a commentator! I think anything less that green utterly destroying him is a failure

It seems to be a pattern, the crapper the opponent the more likely it will be in Sydney wher there will be a triumph of style over substance. Tarver is ok but Danny is running out of time if he wants to be undisputed. This won't help, And will just mean he will be a year olderby the time he chases a top 5 fighter. Wasn't tarver in one of ther Rocky's.
Anyway hi fellow box heads. Anyone else going to see shannan Taylor down here?

Danny will find it hard to become undisputed if none of the other champs want to deal with him !!
Tarvers a good fight. Yes he has been inactive but only losses to dawson really tarnish him. I expect a competitive fight.
I think the size of the expected crowd dictates where the fight takes place.

Im not sure why all the negative attitude towards Tarver. He is only a few years older than Green. Is a South Paw has reach advantage, better hand speed and is the more techniclly sound Boxer of the 2. Green's only advantage is Power.
Green is 38 for fucks sake, its like people on here think he is a prime fighter that needs to prove himself.
I think Green Vs Tarver is a great fight between to guys towards the end's of there careers.

Also the fact Green has just come off serious Surgery makes this fight an even bigger risk.. imo

I agree Ben. When Green landed some counter shots on BJ it made him hesitant to come in, even though he was landing when he did. I would be confident in saying that if Tarver lands he wont be backing up. Green wont back up so as long as it lasts I see this being entertaining.
Some seem to think Green is 28, undefeated and has the entire world at his feet. That is not the case. I would love to have seen Cunningham out here, but shit this is a good fight, especially to bring someone of Tarvers standing in the world of boxing to our shores. As long as Tarver comes in fit, which at 200lbs you would expect him to be, and focused this is a very dangerous fight for Green. More dangerous than Jones in my book...and yes I picked Green to beat Jones.
