you think Haye will quote be 'using the same tactics he used against Valuev. Running and trying to pot-shot'

as i think riddick suggested above, as wlad is much quicker than valuev, replicating those tactics is infinitely more difficult against him. he is quicker, he can cut off the ring and shut down the escape routes more easily.
You've answered your own question. It would be more difficult than it was against Valuev, but it is a possible scenario. Plenty of fights have gone the distance that we thought wouldn't.
Counter-puncher, you see my point now?
hah, I was thinking of you as the fight unfolded. Nice one

Where did I previously compare Wlad to valuev?
I merely said Haye will try to adopt similar tactics .. but believe it or not .. there is a valid comparison in Wlad and Valuev ... size. And the fact that Haye will be expected to be faster with both hands and feet.

My opinion is that haye will run around the ring apron and once or twice a round attempt to land the big right hand ... much the same as he did with valuev.
I think he will be fit enough - and weary enough of Wlad to last the course,
Clear enough for you?

Seems I couldn`t resist

Amazing how talk can really turn a fight into a 50/50 fight.

It was like a re-run of the Mayweather-Hatton build up, loads of patriotic bollocks leading to a one sided hammering.

Precisely. Objectivity goes straight out of the window. The majority of people were predicting a Haye win! This is a boxing forum. The users of this site are supposed to be boxing anoraks, yet the bulk got this fight badly wrong.

Of course there was a chance of Haye clipping Wlad with a big shot. That's always a possibility at heavyweight. But people were using words like 'outclassed'. How was David Haye ever going to outclass Wlad?

This isn't me being a Monday morning quarterback, I am just fascinated by human nature and how even people who 'know their stuff' can be led on a wild goose chase by a bit of bullshit and a herd mentality.
I've posted similar on the cold light of day thread. I bet on Wlad (just as I bet on Mayweather vs Hatton) and I'm always amazing how in the UK we seem to end up with a warped view of how good our athletes are. I got absolutely ripped to pieces by a few people on the weigh in thread for predicting this would be like many of Wlads defences and that it wasn't as huge a fight as Sky were telling us.

haha, a little bit. i think wlad showed it was pretty much impossible to fight him as Haye fought valuev, anyway...... :TU:

That's true mate. I was VERY disapointed by the tactics. That said, once a giant Ukranian starts blasting you in the face, tactics can go out of the window.

the pre fight palaver was pure bollocks, surely the whole point is that it's irrelevant to the fight itself?

Not really. We can say that it didn't influence the decision to buy the PPV but it will have sparked interest in a lot of people so it was relevant to the contest as it made it possible and made it happen if Wlad's statement about wanting to shut Haye up is to be believed.

If you mean the Sky pre-fight palaver and build up. It is a heavyweight PPV so they have to assume a lot of casual fans will be watching. Do casual fans want an undercard or failing that a series of features about the history of the division and whatnot or do they want more hype? Sky could have tried having a somber discussion about the division's past and the fact heavyweight boxing used to mean something on a global scale but I don't see that working out.

One good thing is that 2010-2011 could be the nail in coffin for Sky PPV for all but mega, mega events as they are not dissecting the Coleman's anymore.
Let's hope so. Surely the casual fans will be very wary of coughing up money again after the Fraudley and Wlad fights and Sky will finally have to accept that the public are fed up of being fleeced. Boxing can't survive (here or anywhere) if the business model is just to fool the public for their money as many times as possible.

no, i guess what i meant is, the prefight palaver from Haye about knocking Klit out, being aggressive, and so on, counts for nothing between the ropes where it counts

sure, loads of people would have ended up buying because of it so in pure £ terms the hype was very important, no doubt.

but then quite a few people bought the Audkley fight on exactly the same basis

like you say ppv could have some very interesting implications as a result of haye's recent fights.

haye has talked a big fight only for a damp squib to ensue, in his last 3, for various reasons.

something tells me ppv-buyers may be playing that godawful Who recrod, next time he goes out flogging a fight.

but i'm real glad Haye has reinvigorated a dying division, anyway
