Mr. Mustafa Ameen does outreach work for the IBF’s SARB/Education Fund. This fund was initially created to financially assist retired professional boxers experiencing monetary difficulties. Shortly over a year ago, IBF President Daryl Peoples and Mr. Ameen agreed that he would network on behalf of the organization with the purpose of connecting with these fighters in order for the IBF to provide them with some financial assistance. Mr. Ameen’s role with the organization is limited to just this. He is not an employee or an official of the organization, nor does he receive any monetary compensation from the organization for his efforts.

Previous to the Khan-Peterson bout, the IBF made a request for the Washington, D.C. Boxing and Wrestling Commission to extend Mr. Ameen the courtesy of a credential to enter the arena. Mr. Ameen was not assigned by the IBF to officiate this bout. Despite all that has transpired, at this point the IBF has not changed its stance and plans on moving forth with the hearing as scheduled on Wednesday, January 18, 2012. Mr. Ameen will be present at the hearing to explain his actions and what transpired during the bout between him and Mr. Welsh, the WBA supervisor.

And now Camp Peterson are planning to appeal the WBA decision to order a rematch.

This is pathetic all round. Not sure which is more shambolic - this constant back on forth fighting over worthless belts (being rendered even more worthless by these shenanigans) or the tedious pissing-contest that is Floyd v Manny. In both cases, I don't care who is right or wrong, just stop all the bullcrap and sort it out in the ring.

At approximately 4:50 PM, EST, the IBF received notice that Golden Boy Promotions withdrew their appeal of the Khan-Peterson bout. The hearing that was scheduled for tomorrow (Wednesday,1/18) has been cancelled. The IBF has received no further information on this decision by Golden Boy Promotions.

It's not misinformation that there was an unnecessary delay in totaling the scores, that were subsequently read out incorrectly by a man who has made a near $1/2bn dollar fortune through reading things out in the ring.

Khans whining about not deserving to lose the fight (it was a close one that could have gone either way, certainly no robbery IMO) has clouded some peoples views to some of the more worrying happenings that have come to light. What will ultimately happen? There'll be a rematch, the stink of meddling and outside interference will be swept under the carpet (as that's what the commissions want) and everyone will go on their merry way.

Sniff of corruption in cricket? Criminal cases, lifetime bans, hefty fines, taskforces set up to tackle the threat
Stench of corruption in football? Relegations and titles stripped, imprisonment, fines and bans, taskforces set up to tackle the threat.
Whiff of corruption in boxing? Nothing to see here, move along, "I've never seen any bent fights in my 30+ years in the sport" - F Warren, No, no I was in the ring to help the 85 year old giffer carry the belt into the ring.
