id take canelo fairly confidently over trout.

Cotto was pretty damn ordinary tonight, canelo would have stopped him with big, fast bombs brute 154 lb strength.

Trout had range plus speed plus strength over a faded Cotto - not sure he has anything bar a bit of range on Canelo, who is a very intelligent and strong 154 pounder.

Not overly impressed with Trout tbh. Very easy to hit for a so called defensive fighter. And Cotto is rather slow of hand. I favor Alvarez over him.

I agree. Cotto's power just doesnt carry at 154. He needs to move down to 147 or retire...
He can't make 147 healthy, stupid ass idea
That's my point clown shoes...lol...he needs to retire. We all know he cant make 147...that's obvious

Ok. Trout = Mayweather. Got it now. Canelo dies at the hands (fins?) of Trout.

You think Canelo, who's timing is not as good as Cotto's, can get inside Trout's reach and land consistently enough to win? He had enough issues with Gomez's boxing ability.
I think that Trout has shitty defense, and Alvarez has quicker hands and better power than Cotto. I don't overanalyze these fights, and it serves me well for the most part.

whose* timing, btw.

Idk man, he's still young. I think they've moved him along very well, and he seems to be progressing properly IMO.
X2. Dude is 22. Even his "spoon-feeding" resume shits on anyone else's resume that's his age.

yeah, i think there's a touch of Hatton about Cotto at this stage of his Career. Hatton late in his career i think really started to feel the effects of piling on the weight between fights trying to make 140 - he looked dreadful, especially in the face. But at 147 he was just giving away too much. Senchenko looked a class or 2 above him, and i can only imagine what he would have looked like in with someone like Ortiz. Cotto gave a fair size advantage away to Trout, and i think theres alot of 154 fighters that would do so to Cotto. Rock & a hard place i think.

As I wrote in the CS thread, I thought the fight was closer than the cards made it look, but a good showing by Trout. I thought Cotto would pull this off. Trout deserves a lot of credit.

As to Canelo, when is it exactly that he turned into the 154 version of Bob foster? Was it when he was shook up by Miguel's little brother? Or when he beat fellow 154 lb monsters Lovemore N'Dou and Josetito Lopez?

I'm missing something.

Dan Rafael ‏@danrafaelespn
12th to Trout. I have him winning 115-113, a popular score here at ringside. #CottoTrout #boxing

Oscar De La Hoya ‏@OscarDeLaHoya
I have it Cotto in a close tough fight.

yup, i thought it was pretty close, gave Cotto alot of the mid rounds, i seen it in line with Dan & Malignaggi, Trout came on strong in the end and took it by a couple of rounds. 119-109 was an awful card.

De La Hoya is a moron when it comes to judging who won a fight. I wouldn't put any stock in what he says.

i didn't, i just posted it to show some opinion thats floating around, not because i agree with him. I wouldn't call him a moron though, he may dress like a woman but even if you disagree with an ATG's opinion, it still has to be respected.

Opinions shouldn't be respected based on who offered them; they should be respected based on the strength of the reasoning that's used to support them.

There's no way that Cotto won the fight, and I don't think that it was very close either.

Seems like you had it a draw, not Trout by a couple of rounds.

117-111 I could see, but 119-109 was too wide.

Wilfred Benitez would roll over in his grave if he had to listen to this constant bullshit about Canelo's age and how impressive he is at OMG 22yrs old and 40+ fights. If you know the slightest bit about boxing history, and take into account how pathetic his resume is (cintron?? Years past it Mosley? A career Jr.welterweight that GBP developed a grudge against?), then what Canelo has done up to this point hasn't proven shit. One barely top ten jr.middleweight on his record, and has had the title for how long? Any true fan should be skeptical of that. It's clearly not Canelo's fault, he is going to be a huge financial success no matter what and GBP knows that so why not milk it. But call it what it really is, a padded record, not this ridiculous bullshit "progressing nicely" or whatever else people wanna call it to mask the truth.
