Hearn saying he will make a complete recovery in just a few months and that he might go straight in with Khan at Wembley leaves me feeling suspicious? I know i'm jumping the gun here but there is a sh*t load of cash in that fight, could it be they know his career is over and want to cash in on a Khan showdown at Wembley before people realise his career is over and he announces his retirement? It would get Brook a nice retirement payday, possibly around 5 million, and a barrow full of cash for Matchroom also.

Total speculation on my part, probably uncalled for, i just cant see how he can possibly recover fully from a wound like that, and to go straight in against Khan - if thats what happens, it does not add up for me.

Any doctors on this forum that could give some input on that wound?

Kell was exceptional against Porter. We've all moaned about his career being a bit stop-start...he finally gets his chance...wins the title...terrible shame.

I really do wish him all the best. I hope he'ss back in the ring this year and makes a full recovery. Awful that someone can take it all away like that.

That wound as everyone else has said looks absolutely savage. Looks like whoever did it was trying to hack his leg off. Wonder if Kell got any shots in because whoever did that clearly wasnt fornicating about.

Do you think that was the situation with barker?

All i'm thinking is that is one hell of a wound, bloody horrific - for Hearn to be saying theres a good chance he will go straight in against Khan in his first fight back has me scratching my head in bewilderment.

Its a far fetched theory, i doubt its the case, i probably should not have typed it but there you go.

The press release was made a day or two after the injury occurred. There is no chance whatsoever that anybody had reached the conclusion that Kell's career is over in that space of time knowing what they knew. None. However, they don't know how his rehab is going to go either, but why put a negative spin on it? The December fight is off and all focus is on Brook getting stuck into his rehab programme with the intention of being ready for a big summer showdown with Amir Khan next year. If dates have to be shifted or plans amended down the line they can be.

That's not a stab wound, that's a someone mistaking Kell's leg for a joint of lamb in a effing carvery!

Nasty wound.... I hope he recovers fully.
Effing nora, that looks like it was a very deep wound, he's lucky they didn't hit the femoral artery. Frankenleg!

I can't understand why he'd go back to a strangers apartment in the early hours just for a few drinks.

There must be loads of people on here who have gone back to the house/flat/apartment of a person they have only just met on a night out.

Yep, and to one where someone ended up getting stabbed after we'd left.

There you go, these things happen. It's a bit unusual that he went back alone with just one guy, given he's straight, but not ridiculously out of the ordinary with a few sherberts down the hatch.

Reading the article he went back in a group of three. Doesn't sound that unusual at all, although I think I'd be a little wary if I wasn't with at least one proper friend, but who knows?

Have to admit the story seems a bit far fetched and pretty bizarre to be honest. Saying that though, that doesnt mean it's not true. The bit I dont get is that the dailymail says they know who the attacker was but that he hasnt been caught? How do they know who it is then? How would Kell know who this guy is? Im guessing that maybe one of the other people from the party has said who it is, otherwise that's hard to understand.

I don't think it does sound that far fetched, I've met dick heads who turn like that when you go back to random parties, it was always drugs not beer, mind. And it wouldn't surprise me one bit if he was actually going back for coke but he's hardly going to say that in a paper, especially The Mail.

Im not a doctor but im medical so ill have a go. I cant see clearly but the pics look like the vastus lateralis and vastus medialis muscles have been affected. Not easy to see if the machete has also severed aspects of the inside of the thigh. The femoral artery, vein and nerve all lie quite shallow under the skin on the inside of the thigh. This nerve and artery serve a lot of blood and sensation for the whole leg. Arteries when severed often go into spasm so its quite difficult to kill someone by slicing off a limb . . . . Believe it or not. But a hell of a lot of blood is lost before the spasm. It looks to me, in line with the story and the blood loss that the femoral artery was affected. The nerve therefore would most probably also have been involved. The artery is immediately the most dangerous but the easiest to fix. Nerves are far more difficult to approximate and consequently heal. If this was kells arm its career over. Because its his leg there is a chance of its 90% recovery with the majority of nerve damage, if indeed there is any, being permanent. The muscles, when fixed, will not be an issue, neither will the artery. Kells career rests on the nerve damage. . Fingers crossed everyone.
