Having got the win McKenzie should hopefully get a shot at a big title, there seems to be a clammer for it from allegedly, he certainly deserves it, having now beat Conquest Dickenson and Askin, in his last 3.
Askin is young enough to bounce back and will have learned a lot from the fight.He performed well for the first half but was lucky not to get thrown out for the holding, he did well to get through the last 3 rounds , having got caught flush several times.

Does the EBU title constitute a 'big title'? As much as I like Ovill I would have several people ahead of him in a merit-based lineup for a world title shot.

Askin did my head in all night. Spoiled what could have been an absolute barnstormer of a fight. I guess he was trying to do what he had to do to win, but Bellew showed how to beat Ovil the second time and that was surely also not beyond Askin?

Askin with his strength and height advantage could surely have kept it more at range and controlled the fight more rather than resorting to grappling. I think he's a total idiot cos he just threw away a fight that was very winnable for him.

As for Ovil world title shot, I'm sorry but he's too limited but maybe one of the champs will have him in as a voluntary. His record doesn't read well though so it could be tough to get him a shot. Euro title would definitely be do-able though as a next step surely.

Yeah it was very frustrating to watch. You could tell Ovill just wanted to fight.

Askin was disappointing, but would probably have got stopped had he not persistenly held/tackled McKenzie. Spoiled a potential barnstormer and was lucky not to be thrown out by rounds 8/9.

Matty might still win the British title with an improved effort. Ovill needs to force his way through to a world title, remember Enzo Mac walloped him before his latest run of form. A world title eliminator would be just reward if a promotor puts up the dosh.

I don't see why Bellew wouldn't want to fight Ovil, and get the British and Commonwealth titles - surely this would be more meaningful than boxing some obscure boxer for an even more obscure Silver title or something ?

Unless of course he comes over all Paul Smith-like talking about how he is World Level etc.

Was a really disappointing fight from both of them, Ovill was far too intent on landing a big right hand, completely neglecting his left jab and hook (he caught Askin with a cracking jab in the first minute or so which knocked his head back, perhaps if he'd thrown this a bit more it would have deterred Askin's clutching)

Askin was a complete disgrace, he should have been slung out when he started grabbing Ovill's legs, pathetic I hope this 'display' ensures he's never seen in a ring again.

I really like the look of Ryan Burnett. In against an awful opponent but I seen enough and some classy footwork and movement to tell me he will go places in this sport. Also thought Shinkwin has excellent reflexes and if he hits hard enough could defo see him moving up a level or 2.

Shinkwin did look impressive but I found the taunting of an obviously outclassed opponent unpleasant.

Be nice to see him sparked next time out, may teach him some humility.
