I completely agree about his trainer. I just don't see Sims as being the trainer of a world heavyweight champ. I think the narrative is inevitable that his defensive deficiencies will be exposed when he meets someone even reasonably ring-savvy and then the talk will be of how he needed a name trainer all along. As it will be with Tyson Fury.

Everytime I see an interview of Sim's he comes across like he has about 3 brain cells and one of them is on the blink.

Although I have said he isn't ready for Fury that doesn't mean that Joshua isn't a very difficult night for anyone, even now.

Fury has showed how far a fighter can progress. You'd never have thought he could end up the recognised top man at Heavy if you tuned in to some of his earlier fights. I think Joshua has a pretty average, and thats being kind, training set up. I'd like to see him with a top trainer with a proven record of top level success. It's like sticking Micky Quinn as jockey on your prized racing horse. Against Whyte, when it was his first chance to do so, he completey neglected the jab for the most part, went headhunting and had zero headmovement. Too early to say about his conditioning as although he looked effed in the 2nd and 3rd, he recovered well. Maybe a case of constantly loading up to go along with the big shots he shipped?

Fury got dropped earlyish in his career by somebody below, and possibly way below, Whyte's level, but many always pointed to 'he got up and won'. Joshua didn't hit the canvas and he fought back well to win. The fight had a few positives and had a few negatives for him, which is what we were looking for. Now he just needs to address them, something I don't think his team will/can do. I think it will take a loss for him to seek out the elite trainers.

Isnt there rumours that McCracken is training him in secret and that Sim's is almost just the front man?

Kevo and more importantly his ma were the stuff of legend. We've lost a lot of good posters in the last couple of years, although some just changed their names.

Refused to watch Joshua when he was blowing out all those easy opponents - as a matter of principle given they were novice fights sold as main events with no competitive action.

Tuned in for the Whyte fight and loved the reckless and exciting heavyweight battle, you'd have to say one of the better and more dramatic British heavyweight battles. Enjoyed the heart and grit and pace. Desperately need a DVD of this, official or unofficial.

Enjoyed the next fight for his technical improvements -manoeuvring the southpaw, throwing the right hand actually straight - to deliver on the prediction of knocking Martin on his backside, which he did twice.

One of the better performances by a Brit vs an international southpaw for a world title, reminding me of Froch v Bute, when Froch got in the right position and pelted Bute with straight rights and left hooks in combination. Joshua had just started trying the left hook. He didn't need it vs Martin.

Had doubts about his strength and power, he's not broad like Lewis but a skinny guy built up. But when he's punching actually on balance, with his whole body weight, then he's going to be formidable. Can he remain humble, though? Will he suffer the complacency that hit Lewis twice (the first defeat setting Leeis's career back a good few years) and if it happens how will he respond?
