He already fought Smith how many fights does he need?
I think he realizes the big money isn't going to be Golovkin, who is too scared to jump to 168 and face him.

That leaves the lightheavies, and you just don't jump into scraps with Krusher and Superman without making sure you are properly tuned up first.
Nobody has said he should fight the elite LHW's in this next fight, he just fought Smith so its time to step up, someone like Yunieski Gonzalez would be ideal. YOU say he is a great but great fighters don't fight journeyman, V Klit had 4 years out and fought Peter in his first fight back, pisses over Paul Smith :OhYes:
Do I like these opponents? No.

But, I see Ward working...
next time you could try using light grey as a color

I thought we were talking about how Russians fight. Floyd didn't change his style in the Berto fight.

Speaking about opponents, who from the last 8 opponents did Golovkin drag from the lower weight ? Also, don't forget to mention that Golovkin was ducked by Sturm, prime Geale, Quillin, Martinez, Barker, etc.

According to Dan Rafael, Cedric Agnew is one of several in discussions to fight Ward.

Not bad as a stay-busy opponent.

Agnew is at least a real LHW, but he is boxrec #45 now due to a loss to a 12-3 opponent and inactivity.

It looks like it is official:

So Agnew has just 3 weeks to train and cut weight.

I have no problem with Agnew as an opponent. He gave it his all against Kovalev, hopefully he does the same against Ward.

It doesn't look like he has much left after Kovalev. He lost to 12-3 opponent and was almost stopped by 20-12 opponent. Besides, having only 3 weeks to cut weight and train will hurt him.

Agnew is the best opponent mentioned so far, for what it's worth.

According to Dan Rafael, Alexander Brand has been accepted by HBO as Andre Ward's Nov 21 opponent.

Super middleweight Alexander Brand Monsalve of Columbia is age 38 and has fought one good opponent in his career: Badou Jack, who he lost to a few years ago.

Andre Ward will have him go up from 168 to 175 for this fight.

Does he have a chance? Is this a mismatch? Why didn't Ward choose a light heavyweight, why make Brand move up in weight?

http://www.boxingnews24.com/2015/10/why ... r-tune-up/?

Why does Ward need another tune-up fight when he recently had one against Paul Smith? It doesn’t make much sense for HBO to be accommodating Ward by letting him have another tune-up fight by him facing a super middleweight at light heavyweight.

Ward should be trying to get used to fighting 175lb fighters because he’s moving up to the light heavyweight division and his third fight of his HBO contract is supposed to be against IBF/WBA/WBO light heavyweight champion Sergey Kovalev. For that reason, it doesn’t make sense for Ward to be fighting another super middleweight at light heavyweight.

Hard to argue with that :>

Is that Brand's warmup before Kovalev fight ?

It is a shame though that he dragged up a rusty SMW for that !

Why would Floyd change his change his style ?

Last 8 opponents and you put in a prime Geale right
