This is exactly what I think. Think back to 5 years ago to what was going down in the HW ranks. It was a mess. Hardly brimming with talent. In Haye's 3.5 years absence, the scene is completely changed. He's not the most interesting person on the circuit any more. He's not even the most talked about heavyweight in the UK. He has a lot of work to do to earn the respect he needs, and the interest to make the fights he wants. I think his best bet is take the highest ranked fighter you can, and force a mandatory position. Fury would rather lie down on the motorway than offer Haye a payday.

But even forcing a mandatory is no picnic, because there's other guys doing the same. He'll need 2-3 top fights to even make a noise in my opinion.

For the love of god, I do hope it's not Shannon Briggs. If he fights Briggs, it says one thing. He does not attract any actual fighters.

Another thing that is unbelievably depressing is in Haye's most recent interview, he's once again indicating that it's guna be a 'good show' and they're putting some good musical numbers etc. Maybe a magic show in the ring before knocking Briggs out inside a round?

He's not putting on a boxing event, it's just a circus. No undercard. I feel sorry for anyone who's bought tickets.

True. The last show was embarrassing. If I'm buying a ticket for a boxing event I want to actually watch boxing not some fanny playing records or dancers etc... I like Haye as a fighter but if his first show is anything to go by I wouldn't bother my arse if he was fighting across the road from me!

I've heard that myself. Wouldn't surprise me. Most of the 'writers' on it seem to have their own agenda. The articles are all very similar with only the names being changed to suit.

Glastonbury festival sells out every year within minutes and the line up is not released until months later. I know this isn't quite the same thing but it's the atmosphere, the sense of spectacle, the event, the feeling of being part of a crowd. Going to the boxing is fun, like going to the football is fun or whatever event you like, really. Personally I didn't buy tickets for the DeMori fight but when I watched it on TV it reminded me of the fun I had at other Haye fights and part of me wanted to be there. I spoke to some other lads who felt the same thing and so we just thought, we like going to the fights, let's just buy some tickets and if it's shit, so what? And maybe... It'll be brilliant. I get the impression that most of the people who really get annoyed about this sort of thing don't like to go and watch the boxing live anyway, no disrespect. I just enjoy the atmosphere of big events. The only one that was bad was fury-chisora 2, which put me off for a while. But the 02 is a reliable venue and only down the road for me really. I just like a night out, you know?

That is fair enough, and a good explanation for it. I personally don't ever buy tickets to a boxing event unless I have a pretty good grasp of what the card is going to be on the night. On the bigger nights this seems to be getting harder and harder. My big issue with the last Haye fight is that I didn't think much of the undercard at all, and from what I can see so far, Tony Dodson is the only person confirmed to be fighting.

That being all well and good, and a very honest of you, it's pretty poor for any kind of boxing/sport enthusiasts.

Genuine boxing fans spend hard earned money to watch a top level boxing fights deserve to at least know what's on the bill, and there to be an actual bill. I personally would not buy tickets for a Haye show if he's going to have the evening's entertainment include a band or DJ.

Some people on this thread think it's as easy as looking at the rankings and picking someone. There is a hell of a lot more involved in it than that.
