Like on Godfather when they cut the Hollywood man's horses head off?
There's no doubt Macklin gives the gang some sort of prestige and/or legitimacy. I hope the weigh in mayhem was the last situation but I don't think it will be.

I don't wish to be a tumescent pedant.... But technically AK47s with this kind of wooden fore grip are Romanian made.

I lead, others follow. Still an awful lot of gangster groupies commenting.

What is interesting is that the links between the Kinahan gang and the MGM have been widely known and under reported, likewise the links between boxers from MGM facing drug charges, trainers at MGM getting shot and the ease ikn which someone with a lot of dodgy money has quickly become manager and adviser to a lot of well known and promising boxers, seemingly without any prior experience. The wearing of MGM tee shirts and sweatshirts by boxing interviewers shows how well entrenched and accepted this state of affairs has been.

Does anyone think that Matthew and Seamus come across as tumescent, pre-pubescent groupies?

Would a gym and active boxers be a good way to launder money?

Probably not big amounts, but could certainly be used for relatively small-scale laundering. Interesting one that, I work in financial services risk & it's not something I'd ever really considered.

I think that's Stephen Smith, I read somewhere that Macklin was either studying law or considering it though I'm not sure if it was at A level or as a degree - I'm not how true it is.

Yeah I thought Macklin had studied law as well. Still, you'd think either one would make him a bit cautious about who he associated with...

Putting on boxing shows is a great way of laundering money.

Sport is a great way of getting away with being a dodgy fornicator though because quite often you wouldn't suspect it, a few years back the Kawasaki racing team got busted at Dover with a million quids worth of drugs as well as guns and ammunition hidden in their truck coming back from the Netherlands, so fornicate knows how long they'd been doing that for.

I met them in Vegas last year and they were two gents. They were over for the McGregor - Mendes UFC fight. They had a drink and good chat with us and were more than happy to pose for few pics. It's hard to imagine them being involved with anything dodgy but you just never know what goes on in someone's life behind it all.

The major thing I notice about Ireland when reading about the Dundons, Cahill, Crumlin/Drimnagh fued etc etc is that Irish police are a horrible mixture of stupid, corrupt and incompetent. Especially in the Dundons case. The amount of murderers walking free in Dublin is ridiculous. The guy Paddy Doyle that got done in Spain, was wanted for umpteen but lived a life of luxury.

Maybe Macklin started studying Law when he realised how many dodgy people were floating around him. Realised that he had a constant stream of customers if he went down the defense lawyer route.

This certainly seems the case. Irish old bill seem completely useless in these cases.

Macklin is an intelligent guy who did well at A Level and gained a university place but as far as I know never pushed on with his education after his boxing career took off.

The last thing on my mind would have been the make of the weapon. My first thought would have been get the hell out of there.
Was in Turkey at our hotel cashpoint when a man came out from behind it with a bag and a gun. The first thoughts in my head were " fornicate me!!, Tunisia!! "... then my 12 year old turned to me and said, " Dad, look, he's got an MP5 !!"
Turn out he was the cash collection man. I googled it and the gun was bang on. I blame COD !

The MP5 is a staple of COD, so you're probably right to blame it!

Major lack of resources and a lenient judicial system doesn't help them. If you are convicted of a murder in Ireland, you'll prob serve 12-15 years with good behaviour and anger management courses. There seems to be a blind eye turned - let the gangsters kill each other off. Events like yesterday are rare in that the execution was carried out in such a public and open place with a lot of innocent people around so the Gardai have to show as if they are doing something and arrests will happen, we may even see a few sacrificial lambs been thrown to the Gardai. If it had of happened in the Dublin mountains, it would have been brushed under the carpet after a week or so.

Limited resources = easily corruptible cops. The cash these guys spread around the 'lenient judicial system' makes this stuff possible. Personally I don't have a problem with guys in the same line of work killing or hurting each other but the public should not be subjected to this crap. I also find it difficult to believe that there was no intelligence on this hit. The police presence was pathetic.

I'm not disagreeing with you. It was in the news today that the hotel owner tried on 3 different occasions to call the emergency response and in the end it took a personal call to a detective friend of his before the cops were sent out. There's something not right about that.
The Gardai were out in force yesterday at an anti racism protest in Dublin and were very baton happy. Even a few journalists didn't escape a belt of one.
