Tyson Fury won't reapply
Re: Tyson Fury won't reapply
Vitali suffered from the tendency of opponents to fight one Klitschko rather than both. Bearing in mind how long both were active there are very few shared opponents. His comeback run of opposition was pretty weak as well.

Wlad fought better opposition, because he was a better fighter.

I take just about everything the Fury family come out with with a pinch of salt, including proposed fight dates and venues, comeback dates, injury excuses and illness excuses. That includes Tyson being mentally ill.mickey1975 wrote:Do you think Tyson is sane? Technically, maybe, but it's not all down to cocaine. End of thread.
I think he won the world title, decided to go on a monster blow out, turned up for the rematch in dismal shape and knew he'd get spanked having got lucky first time round, ticket sales were down the pan and with Wlad getting Wlad money the whole thing was going dismally for all concerned so he drops a mental health risk excuse and packs in. Just my opinion but it's what I believe.

Also Wlad fought a lot more often, so when he fought crap fighters (Mormeck, Leapai) he would balance them against contenders and other champions. Vitali, especially towards the end, seemed on a near constant diet of rubbish.

I think the backlash from the British public, helped along by unbelievably bad promoting and management didn't help an already fragile guy.dirk2686 wrote:I take just about everything the Fury family come out with with a pinch of salt, including proposed fight dates and venues, comeback dates, injury excuses and illness excuses. If he didn't want a backlash about all the 'abortion is as bad as pardophilia/gays should be shot' stuff it's his own fault as he said it in the first place.
If he didn't want a backlash against his performance it's tough tits I'm afraid; the public aren't going to call a miserable stinker like his fight with Wlad a classic.

I wouldn't expect the public to, but knowledgeable fans on a dedicated forum should see what he was trying to do and what an incredible achievement it was.
Ps still waiting for a foreign fighter to defeat such a long term champion away from home?

I believe his 'my account had been hacked' in the same way I believe Hughie genuinely had a bad back.

He'll go down another route with another governing body
Re: Tyson Fury won't reapply
Ah - is this one of those really pathetic semantic arguments that he didn't 'say' gays should be killed and that paedophilia is as bad as abortion, he just tweeted 'don't like gays they should be shot' and 'for the devil to come back we just need legalised abortion, homosexuality and paedophilia.'mickey1975 wrote:Listen to the man.
Yeah - what a disgrace that the public aren't more supportive of such a clearly great bloke.

In my experience, they are. He quoted the bible. He quoted the bible when he tweeted 'don't like gays they should be shot' and that legalising paedophilia is all we need after legalising being gay and having abortions to bring the devil back? Which book is that in - bullshit chapter 1?mickey1975 wrote:In my experience, they are. He quoted the bible. To repeat - it's his decision to tweet all that nonsense. As for his fight, every sport in the history of sport has occasions where an outsider does what they need to win in order to get the result, and fair play to Tyson, he did it. But no amount of but but but is going to convince anyone it was a great fight. As a spectacle it was rotten.

I can't even bothered to argue with you. It was a pleasure to be there with thousands of other Brits to watch Tyson make history.

I can definitely understand how it would have been a great experience to go over and celebrate the victory when you have an affinity for Fury. But as a fight, it was truly terrible.

Re: Tyson Fury won't reapply
It was a terrible fight and a very forgettable fight for what the fight was worth for a British boxer to go to Germany and come away with a win for the biggest title in the world. You cant take away that Tyson won that fight no matter how it panned out. In terms of fights it was poor but Tyson could have made up for that by defending that title in great fashion over in England in front of his fans and show his fans what he was really about. That didnt happen and we all know the rest. I think thats what upsets boxing fans. I'm not a fury fan, I never rated him, I couldnt rate him on that title victory, I would have loved him to defend those titles in the ring to win me over with his skills, he didnt do that. A win is a win I suppose but its how you use that win to showcase the rest of your career. I would have had more respect for Fury if he had defended and lost in a decent battle rather than throwing it away like he did.Boxerbeetle wrote:dirk2686 wrote:Absolutely pathetic.mickey1975 wrote:I can't even bothered to argue with you. My last word on it, Tyson obviously has an annoying habit of marking good/great fighters not try against him. He should give up all his physical advantages and excellent boxing brain and be intimidated by Del shouting and balling, Cunningham telling him he was from Philly and the Klit's trying every trick in the book. Unfortunately for them, not one feck was given.

6 years champion at that weight is a huge amount of time.
Win completely overlooked.
Every time a ageing champion gets beat after years of dominance it's usually taken as the champion was past his prime. Mostly it's true but the opponent still deserves the credit Corrales Fury etc.
Re: Tyson Fury won't reapply
Also Luis Nery beating Yamanaka in Japan. Although he does have a PED charge hanging over it which has not been resolved yet....PredatorHayds wrote:Jezreel Corrales beating Uchiyama in Japan.mickey1975 wrote:He never said any of those things for the millionth time...dirk2686 wrote:If he didn't want a backlash about all the 'abortion is as bad as pardophilia/gays should be shot' stuff it's his own fault as he said it in the first place.

Both great champions but I was high on Uchiyama for a long time.
He sat between 5-10 on my P4P list for a couple of years.
Wasn't matched hard enough in his pomp.
I might have to stop now before I turn this to a Uchiyama appreciation thread, and Boxing Prospect throws up a unusual Asian boxing fact about Uchiyama that makes me like him even more.

The Shannon that got knocked out by Lennox Lewis, knocks out Tyson Fury.

Fury would have boxed the ears off our frank. But frank was really popular and a hell of a nice guy. That goes a long long way.
