Prime Ali vs prime Holmes is pretty even matchup, but I lean more towards Holmes.

The ones that would come closest: Ali, Lewis and Bowe would give Holmes trouble and so would Wlad. I don't have Fury down as a great (yet) but I do believe he'd give Holmes a lot of trouble. There are several other fighters I think would beat Fury though.

An interesting point to highlight is that a prime Larry Holmes, had he cut weight, would have been about 190lbs. So he would almost certainly have been the greatest ever cruiserweight had he chosen to operate at that weight, At his best, he would have been about 10lbs lighter on fight night than the likes of Usyk and Gassiev were at cruiserweight!
Rating fighters on whom you think would win is madness in an historical context.

Generally, maybe, but I've got a >90% success rate in predicting the winner in big cruiserweight/heavyweight matches over 30+ years of keeping note. Don't see why that can't be applied era vs era.

But a million times more talented than Usyk and Gassiev

Hagler-Hearns was nowhere near the best fight ever.

Agree with this 100 percent, hugely overrated fight

Hearns shoots his bolt and loses his legs in like 30 seconds and just gets battered the rest of it.

No knockdowns traded, no dramatic momentum shifts or comeback, etc...lacking too much to be rated as gawdly as it is

It’s still a great fight for me but I agree it’s by no means the best ever.

Give me Corrales vs Castillo 1 any day of the week!

Agree with Mickey ,, Holmes at num 1 , Do think a prime Bowe would of give him problems , but doubt he'd beat him , too mentaly fragile

DeGale - Jack was a draw & Ward beat Kovalev by a single point.

In both fights if you watched them straight through & there were no rounds you’d say Jack & Kovalev got the better of the fights & did the most damage but on a round by round basis I agreed with the judges

Isn't it quoted as the best 3 found right ever, because of the uktra elite calibre of the fighters and their all out non stop attacks from the opening bell

I don't even think it's the best 3 round fight ever to be honest with ya.

In general lots of fights are better than that. I wouldn't consider Hagler vs Hearns to be one of the 100 greatest fights of all time.

I guess people remember it because you don't see a lot of Superfights where guys just go all out like that, but yeah it's highly overrated.

The perfect fight for casuals is probably fights that go back and forth and end in a 1 round KO.

Or a 2nd round KO.

Not a lot of those come to mind, but there's been a few.
