Hughie is obviously levels above. It was a crap fight but he arguably beat Parker so to me he is world class. Sexton is inactive and lost to Price and Chisora in his prime. It’s a nice title to have and it was good to get the stoppage but yeah if Hughie hadn’t done a job on Sexton I would have been shocked.

Not sure why he doesn’t take another couple of British defences, get the belt for keeps then go for the european.
Chatting about trying to blag another title shot. How’s that gonna end? Joshua and Wilder would light him up right now. Win the lonsdale, target European, then move to an eliminator?

They’ve already swerved him haven’t they? Joyce is one of the most underrated fighters in this board and I think he beats Hughie right now. Only mentioned as an afterthought in the post fight interviews.

Agreed that he is a step below the two big boys on the block. But who isn't? Joyce has far to go still. Plodder who reminds me of Big John Tate.

Ahhh...ok! I agree it still a stinkey fight to watch, but I can see it in the future as the division begins to clear itself out.

Fury still hasn't been wobbled only 23 -he's a proper I wonder fighter, still nobody knows - he obviously has massive talent
I would still build him up slowly but Mick thinks otherwise by the sound of it

You really think he has massive talent? I'm not so sure. Light hitting; awkward; etc. Still young, but not so sure his ceiling is that high. I'd take Kabayel over him. JMHO.

Agree. Tyson is by far the more complete fighter.

Perhaps, but Joyce would give him a much tougher workout and fight in general than Sam Sexton was ever going to. I’d like to see him improve the quality of his opposition gradually as opposed to beating Sexton then trying to blag an eliminator.
Right now everything is tied up for the foreseeable. You’ve got Pulev, Ortiz, Whyte and Povetkin all lined up as mandatory challengers or in eliminators. He’s got at least 12-18 months before he will even be considered. I still scratch my head when I think about how he landed a title shot before though, so can never know what will happen!

If fury takes on board that he needed to be more aggressive in the Parker fight the rematch might make for a better watch

Still think Joyce would have too much for him and wonder who they will match Hughie with next .

He gave Parker an awkward night but then so did Andy Ruiz, who arguably gave Parker more trouble.
I think Hughie needs a tougher route in order to improve and to attract interest.

You guys are being a bit harsh.
I thought he looked good. Light on his feet and snapping out the jab. The straight right hand looked sharp too. And still only 23 so he should fill out a bit in the next few years and gain some extra power.
I know Sexton wasn't the best opposition and Fury still has some faults to correct but I was impressed. Much better. Let's see if he can keep this up.

I thought of that more as catching Sexton on the way in than showing a proper inside game - Hughie tends to clinch when the other man gets close. But yes, I'd like to see him do well - he seems a nice guy.

Yup would be a very good matchup. At the very least it would be good to at least see him operating against the likes of Dimitrenko, Wach, Hammer etc. now that they don't want to defend the British crown.

Hughie is very good, that much should be obvious. He’s not commercial though so needs to play the mandatory game hard. They should probably decide which belt Joshua will drop first and play that organisation’s rankings.

Hughie was good. Still need to work on the improving of his style, but it was a very good overall performance. A solid work from the distance with jabbing, an excellent one-two to score the first knockdown, a spectacular right hand off the ropes to end everything.
