In fairness to him he was prepared to fight Povetkin in Moscow. Hearn has said Joshua will probably relinquish if he has to do that.
Who's he fought? Been a pro for 40+ fights. Fury hasn't happened. Klitschko hasn't happened. Joshua hasn't happened. Povetkin hasn't happened. Audley has happened.

Eric Molina tested positive after the Joshua fight and just been banned by UKAD. It was 18 months ago. :KO:

Heretic wrote: 22 May 2018, 04:07 What makes the money question important is the fact that if there is no money there will not be a fight. If the money is there the fight will happen.

The money being there or not depends on whether or not the promoters can get the casuals on board. Wilder is still quite unknown. No PPV fights so far. Joshua is really big in UK but has no PPV fights in states.

Will the casuals buy it?

If Wilder had just couple of more credible wins it would be certainty. Wilder is on the brink of being PPV star.

The problem is they can't really delay the AJ fight for those few more wins since Wilder can loose at any time. He was seconds away from eating the bullet against Ortiz.

So the fight needs to happen now. If the casuals get in the train this could be the next Mayweather McGregor style event. Obviously smaller but close to that scale anyways.
But literally nowhere near that scale.
Eddie Hearn has said that the money is there in the US. He tweeted that a smaller gate (under 15k) over there makes more money than a 90,000 UK one. The same applies to the potential TV return.

As you know he was prepared to face Povetkin in Moscow. Hearn has suggested that Joshua isn't.
When Fury won the title Hearn said Joshua wasn't ready to fight him.
Joshua said he'd fight Wilder for $50m. Prepare yourself for his back-pedalling.
Joshua deserves enormous respect for getting off the floor to beat 41 year old Klitschko a couple of years after Fury played with him.

Wilder has had forty plus fights and Joshua had a better record when he'd had less than twenty. If anyone looks like they're all talk it's Wilder. 50m sign now no contract 24 hours? That is laughable.

Hearn said he has spoken to Al Haymon and confirmed that the offer was genuine and now it was Joshua's decision.
I expected Joshua to back away. I'm guessing he'll be happy to go over and fight Jarrell Miller.

AJ and McCracken don’t want it. They’ll stay at home and wait for a Whyte rematch! Povetkin only in this country.... he won a stolen title against Charles Martin ffs and was given a gold medal free of charge in London. Why should he travel. As Dirk says, the brain dead will continue to turn out for him.

boxingnews24 is a terrible site with trolling, wind up, click bait articles. they take a wtf stance all the time

if aj wanted to match wilders ambition then he could wait another 10 fights and 2 years to face jason gavern. and he could wait 3 years to face bermane stiverne in his big moment, and another half a year on that to face eric molina

there is no hw right now who has done so much as quickly as joshua has. wilder was absolutely babied in comparison. hes 4 years older and been pro 5 years longer but still is less accomplished then aj. 4.5 years into wilders career his best opponent was kelvin price

In addition, if this were true it would be a lot bigger news then merely a minor league site that has gotten a big scoop "never."

Didn't say he'd go to America. Said he fight for that fee.

Anyway, he's the name, and he knows Wilder ultimately has to play ball. If the fight never happens, Joshua goes back to fighting someone like Povetkin and he makes £15m. On the horizon is the Fury fight and he makes £25m for that. Fury is the fight that deep down everyone wants to see anyway. Wilder is a nobody.

What does Wilder do? Take his offer home and fight Dominic Breazeale for a million dollars.

Why does it matter to you? It's like you have money invested? It makes no difference to me what any fighter makes. It has no impact on my life. I just don't get it.

It makes absolutely no difference to me.

I think you've missed the point about what a forum like this is. It's just a boxing fans talking shop. If it happens in the UK, or the US, or on Mars, I don't really care. The point with discussion like this is we discuss what's happened and what may be likely to happen. That's all. In that comes the business aspect.

You must have a few quid to be laughing at a million dollars! You really are ready for Whyte two, aren’t you. AJ gave up all his rights when he called Haymons bluff on $50m. The money’s there. If you can’t handle it, get back to robbing mug punters.

He replied "Let's Roll" to the offer to fight in the States.

If Hearn loses the Povetkin purse bid Joshua relinquishes.

You call the WBC heavyweight champ a "nobody" but your hero is scared to death of losing to him.

Dirk walks in on AJ and Hearn banging his wife and he offers them a cup of tea and biscuits.

Joshua should never have opened his mouth. His bluff got called and he had to backtrack.

You must have been Mayweather's biggest fan. Just because he got away with behaviour like that shouldn't make it the norm and we shouldn't be accepting of that type of behaviour from our so called champions.

There is so much wrong with your post on so many levels I really don't know where to start.

1. Based on Joshua’s career to date, there is nothing to suggest he wouldn’t fight Wilder anywhere for that kind of purse.

2. It’s not unreasonable for his promoter to actually fact check if that purse is backed by solid financial foundation. That’s his job.

3. I’m not privy to any of the financials, but I struggle to see how a Vegas fight between them could generate that kind of purse.

Definitely. A unification between an American heavyweight and a British heavyweight makes much more than a unification between two British fighters. Plenty Americans will tune in to see if the undisputed Heavyweight title can be "returned to its rightful place"

do american casuals not already think wilder is the man? im not sure to what extent they even know or care about joshua, his american tv numbers sure aint high

i just dont think americans care that much these days. wilder ktfos everyone, talks big, 6'7 , american olympian, etc and hes still not a big star on ppvs not remotely close to being mainstream in the us.. in the us hes maybe on a similar level as golovkin , although ggg has earned more

What 'behaviour' am I accepting?

Boxing isn't like football where you have guaranteed home and away fixtures. In general the biggest name gets the home fight. Earns more money, fights better names, has more titles, picks up millions more PPVs and draws tens of thousands more tickets. The biggest name in the fight is Joshua.

If money isn't the issue then if AJ wants the fight in the UK and why not he is the one with 3 of the 4 major belts, the recognised number 1 heavyweight. Offer wilder the fight as 50/50.

Something about finkel cancelling meetings suggests they weren't ready to make the offer.

But now the PR is well and truly on their side and it looks like AJ is ducking.
