Re: Prime Vitali vs Fury/Wilder/Joshua?

Most of the hyperbole comes from Vitali being ahead on the cards against a career heaviest Lennox Lewis who was originally training to fight a pudding called Kirk Johnson.

TO be completely fair though there wasn't anyone around... Wlad best wins/toughest fights came at the end of his career (Haye/Pulev/Povetkin/AJ/Fury)Onetimeonly wrote: ↑08 Jan 2019, 18:53No doubt, Joshua has a better resume already. Not even close really. I'd say Sanders, none are of note really. Waste of a career
Rahman, Ruiz, Toney, Golota and Brewster are better than literally anybody he beat. Plenty of scope for Vitali to get cut or injured against those boys.danconnollyeire wrote: ↑09 Jan 2019, 08:25TO be completely fair though there wasn't anyone around... The ring's rankings 2004 were:
Chris Byrd
John Ruiz
Hasim Rahman
James Toney
Monte Barrett
Andrew Golota
Fres Oquendo
Jameel McCline
Corrie Sanders
Lamon Brewster
Take Byrd out of the question, none really give Vitali problems at the time
HW Toney wasn't amazing. His brother beat Brewster and Rahman. Vitali maybe should've fought him post Wladimir win but he was retired then (for 4 years at least). Brewster got his shot vs Wladimir so it's not like Vitali dodged him. Golota was passed it in 2004. Beaten by John Ruiz then sparked in a round vs Brewster, I can't have seen Vitali having any sleepless nights over himTuan_Jim wrote: ↑09 Jan 2019, 08:57Rahman, Ruiz, Toney, Golota and Brewster are better than literally anybody he beat. 1. Toney was amazing at first. His dismantling of an admittedly very old Holyfield was impressive and in 2005 he made light work of John Ruiz.danconnollyeire wrote: ↑09 Jan 2019, 09:08HW Toney wasn't amazing. For the record, I don't think Vitali is a GOAT or has an amazing record I'm just trying to be objective, no one in that list around 2003/04 could've beaten him. Byrd is the only question mark... Ruiz had some form at the time. Toney got done for PEDs a year later
Ali and Louis are clearly 1 & 2. Either order works for me.thechump wrote: ↑09 Jan 2019, 07:47What heavyweight champion has the best resume in history would you say? It's kind of you to give him wins he never earned. Imagine if Jones never fought tarver? Anyway that's a perfect list to show vitali fought the weakest of the weak in a weak era.danconnollyeire wrote: ↑09 Jan 2019, 08:25TO be completely fair though there wasn't anyone around... Add valuev and holyfield to that list, even an old holyfield would of gave vitali problemsdanconnollyeire wrote: ↑09 Jan 2019, 08:25TO be completely fair though there wasn't anyone around... I didn't give him any wins, I just don't think any in that list would've given him sleepless nights at the timeOnetimeonly wrote: ↑09 Jan 2019, 09:30It's kind of you to give him wins he never earned. Imagine frank bruno in that era,we would be talkin about who would win between him and ali cause he would of knocked them all out in better fassion than vitali ever diddanconnollyeire wrote: ↑09 Jan 2019, 09:43I didn't give him any wins, I just don't think any in that list would've given him sleepless nights at the timeOnetimeonly wrote: ↑09 Jan 2019, 09:30It's kind of you to give him wins he never earned. You credited his brother for beating the two best ones, literally years later when they were washed up! Byrd beat him and Ruiz, Rahman, Toney, Golota and Brewster--in 2004--are better than anyone he beat.danconnollyeire wrote: ↑09 Jan 2019, 09:43I didn't give him any wins, I just don't think any in that list would've given him sleepless nights at the timeOnetimeonly wrote: ↑09 Jan 2019, 09:30It's kind of you to give him wins he never earned. If you ever imagine what a 19th century boxer would like fighting in today's sharp, digital TV definition, just watch Vitali Klitschko. Him versus Wilder would probably look like an enlarged duplicate of Fitzsimmons/Corbett.
